Raptor may revenge

Postby Guest on Wed Apr 20, 2005 12:30 am

I heard it from ESPN last night, That Smith guy said Raptor may lose to Cavs on Wednesday on purpose.............

But that will only help Cavs if they win the game against Boston, and Nets lose their last two games...

Do you guys think it ll happen?

I wish it won't happen, i wanna see nets on tv, they are fun to watch, when was the last time ESPN, TNT or ABC televise nets' game???

I highly doubt the Raptors would decide to lose a game to spite Vince Carter and the Nets. It's possible that Stephen A. Smith was joking, but then if he's not it wouldn't be the first questionable statement he's uttered.

Can they do that? I would except the NBA would be mad if the raptors do something like that.

People don't play to their full ability all the time. Steve Kerr stated that he always had his "Thursday Nights" off.

Why would the NBA be mad? You don't think they want LeBron in the playoffs?

True, but if the Raptors loose, it will likely be because of Rafer Alston and one of the other perimeter players not giving Bosh the ball, as opposed to them losing on purpose.

it would really be funny. if the raptors just stood on the court doing nothing and making fun of VC in front of the cameras. then on offense they would just let rafer alston do some and1 stuff and not even try to score

I just don't care for him, I guess I don't agree with his point of view very often.

What the hell? Why would the Raptors purposely lose the god damn game? I mean, they're outta the playoffs and all, but I don't want to see a team purposely losing just because of some stupid retard who left Toronto. Just the mention of losing on purpose pisses me off. I have too much pride.

That'd be funny considering without Vince the Raptors probably would've gone the way of Vancouver.

Exactly. He often seems to have prepared comments for the game that seem to suggest he isn't actually watching the game in progress. Take the Bulls/Sixers game back in December. It was an up and down contest, scoring right around the NBA average for halftime scores, some nice dunks and pretty entertaining all around.

Stephen A's comments were basically that the game was boring and he was waiting for it to start. It was like he'd taken a look at the teams playing, their record and decided what to say without bothering to watch what was really happening.

Sure, he might say things to simply get a reaction but when they're so out of touch with reality, so ignorant, I find it lame rather than entertaining. And yes, the fact it was a Bulls game didn't help either. :P

It would be a disgrace for the Raptors to do this, especially if it got around the league. It would just be a petty and embarassing move, and I wouldn't want to call myself a fan if that was the rep of the team. I mean the Raptors rep is bad enough, the problem with this is that if it get's around, if the Raptors lose, and it's not a close game, even if they're trying, their will be people saying that's why.

I also don't see how it's really revenge, I'd tank for a draft pick, that's reasonable as it helps our future, but not to be like little children...
