Vanessa Hospitalized; Kobe There

Sat Apr 16, 2005 4:30 pm

Kobe Bryant missed the Lakers' game against Sacramento on Friday night to be with his wife, who had an ectopic pregnancy.

Vanessa Bryant has undergone several tests the last two days and Bryant was with her, the team said. He missed practice Thursday, a team charity event that night and practice Friday.

Bryant will remain with his wife, and his status for the final three games of the season is unknown, the team said. The Lakers didn't qualify for the playoffs.

"He's doing the right thing being with his wife," Lakers coach Frank Hamblen said.

The Bryants have a 2-year-old daughter.

The Lakers provided no details on Vanessa Bryant's condition.

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube. A small number of women die each year in the United States because of ectopic pregnancies, which can cause infertility.

Like how the "jordon haters" eased up when he was having marital problems or his father was murdered or he was being hounded by the press everywhere he turned or when he got injured in his first year with the Wizards? Most of the "hating" is basketball related anyway - I don't think many people would derive pleasure from such news and those who do take sports way too seriously.

I'm sorry to hear about it though. Forget about Kobe for a moment, Vanessa Bryant has been through a lot the past couple of years. Hopefully she's not in that small percentage of women who die as a result of this complication.

Yeah, just to clear things up to readers, it's possibility of her Dying.

If she does die, Kobe might break down, biiiiiiiiiig time.

I think it's a safe bet to say he would be devastated. But by the numbers, it seems there's a good chance she'll be OK in time. Here's hoping.

Good luck to her...

Kobe hating has nothing to do with this and I can know since I hate him with a passion. I don't have anything against his wife and I don't wish death on nobody.
Besides Kobe has enough money to get her the best medical treatment, so hopefully his wife won't die.

I've heard that they will perform surgery and people have died during it.

Sat Apr 16, 2005 11:21 pm

y would u keep bringing that up... she will get better.

Sun Apr 17, 2005 1:32 am

I know, I think theres a 99.5% chance of her not dying. Kobe makes enough money to probably own his hospital and let him do the surgery if he wanted.

lol, that was so ludicrous it made me laugh. Seriously though, I hope Vanessa won't be part of that small percentage of not making it.

she won't die. seems like the pregnancy was detected early therefore she'll make it.. if it wasn't detected early however, then it might've been a different story. hope she has a quick recovery (Y)

kobe's game back wasn't a strong enough effort. tough to lose, but i was entertained to watch the game. kobe's statline from all this was impressive: 33points, 9 dimes, 7 boards, 8 TOs, 2 swipes.

too many missed layups in this game. friggin a!

Kobe wants to win.. He's got a big heart..
But he just wants to win in his way.

Strong enough? Come on! It's not his fault, it's that his teammates didn't play well enough with him to win. He hit a left handed 3 pointer to beat the shot clock! Left handed!
