West playoff race

Thu Mar 31, 2005 5:47 am

It is a three man race for two spots in the Western Conference playoffs. The Grizzlies, Nuggets and Timberwolves are all fighting for the final two spots.

Here is what it looks like:

Memphis: 14.0 games back (7th seed)
Denver: 14.5 games back (8th seed)
Minnesota: 16.0 games back (9th seed)

Minnesota plays Denver on April 8th (I'm going to the game
 ) and Denver and Memphis still play twice in the final month. Denver and Memphis' schedules are tougher than the Wolves (memphis' looks the toughest). Who do you think will get in?

Thu Mar 31, 2005 5:49 am

personally, i think the wolves are gonna be left out. i rather see them in before the nuggets, but unfortunaly i will just have to watch the nuggest get a 4 game exit from round 1

Denver in the 7th, if not higher, and Wolves in the 8th.

Good news for the Wolves is we play Utah twice next month without AK-47

Gee, I'm happy the man is probably in excruciating pain and might have to wear a cast for a month or so. Oh, jolly good days lads... :x

I think denver will move up to 7 th spot since they trail memphis by only .5 game and i dont know if minnesota will be able to get the 8 th spot. My standing at the end of the season for the west is:
Denver - 7th spot
Memphis - 8th spot
Minnesota - 9
Clippers - 10
Lakers -11

Minnesota's got a chance but they need Denver or Memphis to falter the rest of the way. The Lakers haven't been mathematically eliminated but they've got to be close. The seven game skid has put them too far back. From here on, they've got to be perfect while everyone above them loses most of their remaining games, if not all of them.

It'd be cool to see Minnesota in the mix, that'd make for an interesting 1st round. If Nuggets make it i hope they get served by TD & Co.

I agree but they way it looks now for the lakers i dont think they would be able to get to together and be perfect rest of the way. I think they should look forward towards the draft lottery pick and towards drafting a good point gaurd

Even though the Grizzlies are on a 3-game losing streak, they have the chance to hit a 6 or 7 game winning streak because most of the time after they hit a losing streak like that, they end up going on a winning streak. I know for sure that they won't miss the playoffs because they have too many good players to miss the playoffs even though our schedule is tough, they beat the spurs twice already this season with pau in the lineup and the other time without stro and pau in the lineup and guess what......the spurs had all their players that time  also if they beat denver both times they play them, that would basically almost automatically put us in the playoffs.

With Gasol and Swift finally coming back, they are now back to our normal team and things should start changing tomorrow when they play the Bucks to start out the month of April. (Y) I also think Denver will make it because they are just playing too well down the stretch right now and it's hard to see that they will go on some type of losing streak in April. The Twolves just won't be able to get in this year, sorry Riot.

As for the 7th and 8th seed, I really wouldn't mind the Grizzlies just getting the 8th spot so they can play Phoenix instead of the Spurs. Phoenix isn't an experience playoff team, but you know the Spurs are, plus Memphis matches up alot better with the Suns. So, I wish Denver good luck on holding on to the 7th spot so they can get eliminated about San Antonio.

Wolves have won 8 of the last 12 games. Wolves have the easiest schedule out of the 3.

I think the Wolves will be the 8th seed and I jsut don't see Memphis making it. I mean, I've seen them play the last two games and they haven't looked good at all. (N)

I'll say only losing 102-99 to Seattle after having a 14 point lead isn't bad. At least it wasn't a blowout. When they lost to the Bulls, they were losing, but made a comeback, but couldnt complete it at the end.

Fri Apr 01, 2005 1:20 pm

Keep in mind seattle didn't have RASHARD LEWIS!

and you guys lost to Chicago who didn't have HINRICH and DENG who was out for most of the game!

I want Minnesota to get in, but Denver and Memphis have been playing too well for the T'Wolves to get the eighth spot.

However, I would really like to see the Timberwolves get in though. Ever since Cassell came back they have been playing like an entirely different team, just wait until he starts again.

I guess I was right when I said Sam Cassell is the x-factor on this Timberwolves team :D

He's more like the $ factor.

yeah i really hope the wolves do make it also. if i could pick the team i dont wanna see in it i would say denver. not a fan of them really. always have been a big marcus camby fan(from mass afterall) but thats where my love for this team ends.

Wolves beat the Lakers last night but they play @Phoenix tonight

Never the less, go Wolves! They can do it, earlier this year they beat the Suns at Phoenix so they can do it again. (Y)
