the 100 points is a maby , the person who i think has the best chance of doing it is lebron james . but thats the one that might be the harderst to break.
isn't the record for rebounds like 60 or something by Wilt....that won't be easy to beat....the best rebounders ever have 30 in them once or twice in their careers, if they are lucky....

Whom are you kidding?
The 100 points record is ONLY open for dominating players in the league. And only then if the ball is played to that certain player in heavy majority of offensive plays. Also, his shooting percentage has to be major to be able to pull that off and game tempo quite quite high.
In nowadyas NBA, 100 points is as impossible as is the 8 straight wins.
Because at that time the league was different, and boston had the options and tools to do that. Nowadays, its not so anymore.
In theory, most good scorers post-Wilt could have broken the record or at least come close, but I don't think it will happen simply because the style of play no longer promotes feeding one player the ball for 63 shot attempts, not to mention the attempts that didn't register because of shooting fouls on missed shots. No one is going to really get the opportunity to challenge the record.
To answer John WB's question, I believe David Thompson has the next highest single game total with 76.
I also believe the Celtics' championship run will be unequalled, at least as long as the salary cap and player attitudes prevent virtually the same unit to play together for the better part of a decade.
The Bulls' regular season record of 72-10 is going to stand for some time in my opinion. A lot of teams look like equalling or bettering it early on, but start to lose steam by the All-Star break. With Malone calling it quits, Kareem's lead in the regular season career points is also safe for the forseeable future, while I don't think Michael Jordan's lead in career points in the postseason will be relinquished anytime soon.
c'mon , i think lebron seriously has a chance of atleast coming close to it. atleast 85 . does anyone here think that 56 is gonna be his career high , hes only a sophomore , i think every season it will increase , up to the point where he scores atleast 80.
Michael Jordan didn't even score at least 80 either.
I think the 100 points in a game will never be broken. At least, not in this league. 8 championships in a row will probably never be broken either, but I think it's a better chance than 100 points in a game. I think, if Michael Jordan never retired, the Bulls could've won 8 in a row.

I dont think any of the high Points,Assists,Steals,Block or Rebounds will ever be passed, well actually steals may, but the talent level has risen and the rules have changed since the day most these records were made, so i dont think we could see em broken.
Yeah, assists can be broken some day. Scott Skiles had 30, and I think some ppl came close to that. I remember Jamaal Tinsley had 22 assists a couple years ago.

well, Nash hasnt come close to 30 yet and look at the team he's playing on...high octane offense, run and gun type. Maybe if he was playing alongside MJ & Lebron he could reach 30
yeh sure.. maybe we cant beat it coz the style has changed.. there is alwasy the possibility of 4-5 OTs....
It took what 40 years for the new style to take place, maybe in anohter 40 some odd years the syle will change again and maybe then the record will be brocken!
But... the 72-10 record seems to be getting harder and harder to beat.. i mean i stay this concistant u really need a good and strong team (mentaly and skill) and with the way teams change every 2 or so years im not sure we can get a team like that.. look at Twolfs!
nobody will ever ever break 100 points. it will never ever happen again. wilt was so amazingly dominating in that game there will never be anybody able to do that again. nobody will even score 85
I can't even see LeBron scoring more than 65. Not many players can do that, and LeBron is more of a complete player than just a scorer.

You know, at some point in the season, the Suns were actually flirting with challenging the Bulls 72-10 record. I bet some day in the next 50 years, a team will be able to beat that, but I can't see anybody touching 100 points or 60 rebounds.

100 points because it's too unnatural, it's just so weird to go out and take so many shots, and you teammates will have to want you to score 100, and get you the ball everytime. Wilt's team was even intentional fouling the other team so they could get more posessions.
8 consecutive championships also won't happen unless someone get's some crazy team.
I think the APG average has an easier chance of being broken, the game is moving to a more fast paced game, and we have upcomers like Telfair and Livingston who can be capable in their prime.
