Kobe on fire

79-78 (LaL) I think about 3 mins left in the 3rd, Kobe made 8 3 pointers... he's got I think 35 points off of some 15 shots, he's been sinking 28, 29 foot shots! I think he's going for the record... Donyell Marshall scared him.. lol..

a combo of marshall tieing his record for 3s combined with lebron tieing kobe's career high in points has forced him to try and make new standard for both of them.

That's six in a row the Lakers have dropped, they're now 4.5 games out of the 8th spot. Denver and Minnesota can't finish any higher than 46-36, and that's assuming the Lakers go 15-0 the rest of the way. It's too early to say they're out because it's still mathematically possible for them to make the playoffs, but it relies on Denver struggling the rest of the way.

I see the race for the 8th spot staying as it is now, Denver gets it, Minnesota and LA staying behind in their current order. It'd be interesting to see if Minnesota can try to do well and see if Denver struggles though.

T-Wolves are playing better now, but it's too late and the Nuggets are playing too good to fall.

Lakers have no chance. They're just playing horribly.

I'm glad the Lakers are losing. As a fan, there is nothing I'd like to see more than being able to get a lottery pick and draft a good PG (Deron Williams, Jarrett Jack please) then make a fresh start for the new season. The Kobe/Rapes/Shaq saga will be dead and gone and it'll be time for everyone to refocus on the task at hand. Not to mention a new coach. This year has been a turbulent one, if you were really expecting a lot from the team you're thick. Not only does it take time to adjust to having three new prominant teammates and being run by a guard as opposed to a big man, but when you throw in the drama along with it and some injuries it makes it near impossible. Bring on the draft I say (Y)

How many teams didn't made the playoffs only one year after reaching the NBA Finals?

the Lakers had not dropped 6 in a row since 1994...they're obviously not gonna make the playoffs this year, with 15 games remaining

i don't want to drive the spike in even further, but i can't believe the coaching staff hasn't found a way to mesh the talents of odom and bryant. some of the same lakers fans here were skeptic about a tmac and yao duo and look how they're doing

i would be disappointed if i were a fan of the lakers, especially if you went off the lakers faction here saying there were going to make the playoffs.

a team like milwaukee last year had considerably less talent and also had a new coach made the playoffs and argubly gave the eventual champs the toughest series. this year, denver was a team left for dead. their frontcourt was a revolving door of injuries, their only reliable perimeter threat- lenard, has been out since the 1st game, 'melo was supposedly the next big dog, and they had a coaching change in the middle of the year. or even the chicago, who is the only team starting 2 rookies and most of their key players are under 22...

can't say i'm sad about the lakers troubles this year though

This could be one reason: The lakers are tanking for a lottery draft. A conspiracy theory!

You forgot to mention how the Sonics which are basically the same roster from last year are close to having 50 games won.

Rome wasn't built in a day... The lakers cannot make themselves a contender after so many changes... although I did expect them to make the playoffs.. I was wrong.

If asked if I'm disappointed...yes I am. But life is never fair lol- u cant win everything!

There's something missing in LA town and his name is "Shaq"!!!!!!

At the beginning of the trade I thought the Lakers came out better than Miami but I guess I was wrong. The Lakers are going to miss the players if they keep this pace - that's all I gotta say.

I don't understand how Kobe can't even get them into the 8 seed if he's so great.

It's not like he doesn't have anyone-Odom, Butler and Atkins are quality players. I'm not saying they should have homecourt or anything, but if he was so great, he'd definitely have them in the playoffs!

Think about all the scrub teams over the years that could at least get the 8 seed!

Why dont u think about these 'quality' players... do they actually do much during games? Can someone answer me about how hard the team tries on defence? Do they play aggresively? Or do they just stop and wtahc Kobe???

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=a ... &type=lgns - About time, Devean is back! I've always liked this kid. He got potential... maybe he will do better than Lamar...

And the lakers play Denver! If Kobe and the Lakers are focused... it should be a great game! (Y)
