Sacramento Kings (10-4) Los Angeles Lakers (9-3)

Game Preview

Lakers really taking their defense a notch higher this season, as a result Lakers is one of the top team in this season. Winners of last 2 games and 6 of their last game, Lakers will try to improve their record to games in 10-3 and hold the top spot in their division. Lakers’ starters are playing team basketball very well and a deep bench only makes things better for this Lakers.

Rival-Sacramento Kings are virtually tied with Lakers with his 10-4 record and winning this will put them back as #1 Pacific team. They win a close game against Charlotte Bobcats. In that game, Kings led from start until 3rd quarter but the Bobcats comeback and almost win it. But Bibby doing as he always do, made a buzzer-beater 3-point shot.

Bryant led his team both in scoring and assists but still criticized esp. last game when he shot 16 3-pointers for a total 37 shots the whole game. On the other Bibby will lead his team once again but need help for Stojakovic and Webber to steal this one in Staples Center.

Game Recap

Image
Kobe Bryant had a great shooting night against the Kings,
making 10 of 15 from the field including 5 of 8 from downtown.

Lakers never planned starting the game this way. Chris Mihm goes to the basket, made it but sustained an arm injury form a hard foul form Miller. Bryant confronted Miller and both players exchange some world. Both players were called for technical fouls. When the game resumes, Bryant do all the talking by making all his shots, 3 from downtown. But the game was still close until the 1st quarter end. The score was 32-30 with both teams shooting exceptional well from the field. In the next quarter, fans were so happy when Miller called for his 3rd foul and need to sit the remaining of this quarter. Webber, after having a great start, also got into foul trouble. Without their frontcourt starters, Kings saw Lakers slowly pulling away, building a 12 point lead at halftime. Bryant only took 9 shots in the 1st half and made 7 of it. He was 5 of 6 from 3-point area. The score was 56-44 at halftime; Lakers limited the Kings to only 14 points in the 2nd period.

Kings made some defensive adjustment in the 2nd half. They force Bryant to give up the double as they double team him every time he touched the ball. He only took shot 2 shots in this quarter. Stojakovic, Bibby and Jackson combined for 18 of 26 3rd quarter points of Kings and cut the deficit to only 6 points. But Lakers led by Odom and Butler took on the teams scoring with Bryant struggles in the 3rd period. They made a late run to put their lead back to 10 points, 80-70. In the 4th quarter, Bibby and Stojakovic both caught fire as they made all their shots, from inside making lay-up to their outside shots. Lakers on the other hand, struggle making shots esp. Bryant who still unable to have decent look at the basket. The Kings successfully tied the game at 90-all. With 1:10 left, the game was tied at 98-all after a lay-up by Mobley. Odom was fouled in the next possession and made the 2 free-throws. Bibby try to become a hero once again, he goes for a jumpshot but he missed. Luckily, Miller rebounded the ball and passed to an open Stojakovic and made a long 2, games ties at 98-all with 38.9 seconds left. After a timeout, Bryant dribbled the ball and drive to the basket, Kings clogged down the lane and Bryant forced a shot which he missed badly. Kings called timeout and draw of what could be the winning play. Peja got the ball but Lakers double team him, he saw Fizer open down low so he passed it to him. Mihm try to block him but he was called for a foul. Fizer missed the first before making the second. Odom inbounded the ball and Bryant get it, he again drove to the basket but this time he turned back, goes for a shot and hit the bottom of the net with 0.8 seconds left. Without a timeout, kings inbounded the ball but they never got a chance to make a shot. A down-to-wire win for the Lakers this time. Final score was 100-99. Bryant finished with 25 points including that winning shot. Also he attempted 15 shots, making 10 of them for 66% shooting. Lakers also got a good game form Odom and Butler finishing with 20 and17 points respectively. Bibby led the kings with his 25 points and Stojakovic added 20 points. But they got just little farm their frontcourt duo.

Nets join the Bandwagon, Sign NLSC Baller

Image

Nov 27 Sun -- The Nba announced that the New Jersey Nets have signed point guard, Will Sit. Undrafted in the NBA draft last July, Sit tryout for otther team like his Bulls, Raptors, Nets and his favorite team Los Angeles Lakers last summer camp.

"He was a good player and he will be a great addition for any team. Unfortunatelyhe were happy with the composition of our team and were deep in point guard position this year. We can sign him but he will not get the enogh oppurtunity inside the court. Lakers GM Kupchak said.

Nets already had 3 point guard, Kidd, Pargo and Planinic. Kidd was back on his pre-injury form while Planinic has yet to saw action in this season. Pargo, last off-season acquisition was a little dissappointment for the Nets organization. He average 2 .5 points and 0.5 assistsin 8 games so far.

Sit, a Australia native, will make his debut game tomorrow against the Atlanta Hawks. Ironically his next game will be against his favorite team, Los Angeles Lakers on 30th of November.

Atlanta Hawks (6-8) @ Los Angeles Lakers (10-3)

Game Preview

The Los Angeles Lakers will try to match their longest winning streak of the season as they host the Atlanta Hawks. Lakers won 4 straight games before losing to Blazers last week. They win their last 3 games and the last one was a very close game against their biggest rival, the Kings. In that game, Bryant shots 66% from the field and finished with 25 points. Lakers showed balance scoring in that game with 4 Lakers players scored in double figures.

Atlanta Hawks, on the other hand, are struggling at the moment. They started the season 5-3 but dropped 5 of their last 6 game for a 6-8 record. The duo of Walker and Harrington are doing great for the Hawks and also got a big lift from Van horn of the bench. 2nd year players like Nelson and Childress led the supporting cast of the team.

Bryant is doing well shooting the basket in the last few games esp. with his 3-point shooting. But still many said it was their defense that helped them to be at the top of the Western Conference. They defense must be in high gar esp. going up against Walker, who can score anywhere in the court. He's a multi-dimensional player who can kill form inside and burn you from the outside.

Game Recap

Image
Chris Mihm struggles offesnively but done
a wonderful job on defense, blocking 4 shots.

Both teams started the game missing their couple of shots. Lakers missed 5 straight shots, but the Hawks unable to capitalize on that as they only managed to make 2 baskets for a 4-0 lead after 3 minutes of the game. Lakers then made a 12-4 run led by grant’s 8 points to give a Lakers a 6 point lead. They hold on to that until the 1st period end. The score was 23-19 going to the next period. Tony Delk served as a spark form the bench, scoring all his 9 points in this quarter and helped the Hawks came back in the game. Gant got injured with 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Lakers double digit lead was cut to only 1 point at the end of the 1st half. Lakers hold a 43-42 advantage at halftime break.

Lakers again struggles shooting in the 3rd quarter while Hawks finally found their shooting touch, they almost made all their shots in the 3rd period. But turnovers was the story in this quarter, both teams committed lots of turnover. They combined for 13 turnovers in this quarter alone. Hawks got a big game from Walker and Childress as they put the Hawks on top in this quarter. They now hold a 2-point lead, 63-61 with 1 quarter to go. Nelson took over in the 4th canto as he scored 12 points and Walker added 8 points. They extended their lead to 8 points but Lakers never gave up and came back in the game. Odom came big down the stretch scoring 3 straight baskets to tie the game at 81-all, 2 minutes left in the game. The Lakers then grabbed the lead back at 85-83 and they able to make an 89-85 count with 33.4 seconds left.
