Minnesota Coming to Play

8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter against the Rockets, the Wolves bench has really stepped up and they're up by 21. It'd be interesting to see if they could keep up this play, although I doubt it.

I was on some NFL boards talking about the Timberwolves in the "Other Sports" section of those boards, and people were arguing about why the T'Wolves are struggling.

I said that Sam Cassell is the X-factor for the Timberwolves.

If Cassell plays like a true point guard and shoots the ball well the Timberwolves are a whole different team. I can safely say that with a healthy Sam Cassell the T'Wolves will make the playoffs.

Ah, my wolves are giving up the lead!

Sam came to play, Wally came to play and even Hudson came to play. KG is playing great and Olowokandi did a good job on Yao. Houston couldn't hit a shot.

NN, you are 100% right. Sam Cassell was one of the main reasons why the team was so good last year. Sam had his first all-star apparences last year and the team thrieved. Flip's system fit Sam perfect. But his shot was off earlier this year, he got injuried and the team never got into a rhythem. Hopefully he can stay healthy and we can make a push to the postseason. Right now I'd agree, but the real problem for the Timberwolves is Denver. They're 2.5 games ahead of Minnesota, four games above .500 while the Timberwolves should be at .500 very soon. Minnesota can keep winning, but Denver has to slow down for them to really have a chance.

I think they said Denver has to lose about 4 games atleast for Minnesota to have a shot.

Denver has like 18 games left.

18 games is plenty for the momentum to shift. Minnesota has 14 games left, which is also enough to make a good run. Right now, it's very simple for all the teams battling for lower playoff seeds: no long losing streaks and no losses to the other teams in contention for the last playoff spot.
