A strong yet remarkably agile and fundamentally sound forward/center with a dominating presence on th edefensive boards, Murphy is reminiscent of a young Kevin McHale, although he lacks his passion. When playing center he is able to draw the opponent’s big men out in the perimeter and either shoot it (41.7 % 3pt) or drive it to the basket with an explosive first step rare in a 6’ 11” 245lbs athlete. The only problem at this part seems to be his lack of leadership as he is unwilling to assume responsibily during the later stretches of the game. He could have a 25/8/8 game one night and be nowhere in sight for the next 3.This inconsistency is hurting his starter’s status at SF with Luke Walton coming strongly off the bench in just about every game. Dunleavy’s main physical problem is the fact that he is too slow off the dribble thus creating few shots for himself, and this combines with a mediocre off the ball movement make him dependant upon others’ passes to score. Speedy has been a total disappointment in November. When Golden State traded away newly acquired PG Derek Fisher back in October everybody in Oakland expected the diminutive PG out of Hofstra to take the team’s reigns from the point position and provide plenty of scoring opportunities for the rest. The fact is, the Warriors’ relatively slow paced game and triangle style offense require a PG who is big, mobile off the ball who looks to set up the offense without rushing th efirst pass on the break. Claxton is not this type of PG, being more of a run-an’-gun type backup PG who would fit perfectly in a contender. Numbers of 5ppg and 3ast in 30 minutes per game indicate the fact that Speedy, mostly through no fault of his own, is a wound in the Golden State squad now and he is required to adjust to the occasion if things are going to turn for the better,both for him and the franchise. GRADE: E-

GOLDEN STATE BACKUP PLAYERS' REVIEW FOR NOVEMBER
6 – SF/PF LUKE WALTON : 10.6 PPG – 4.1 RPG – 0.8 APG – 0.15 SPG – 0.0 BPG – 21.4 MPG – 54.0 % FG – 26.3 % 3pt – 75.8 % FT
Luke has been the consummate sixth man for the Warriors’ franchise ever since he was acquired by the Lakers back in October. His 11 points per contest while participating only 21 minutes in each prove he is a capable scorer of the bench, with enough passion and hustle in his game to overcome his lack of serious athletic ability. Luke can shoot well from mid-range, can fake and drive, and he can play the PF position exceptionally well despite his 6’ 8”. Adding to that Mike Dunleavy’s erratic displays, it is fairly evident that the curly-haired forward will see more playing time in the future and could possibly assume the starting three spot for himself. GRADE: A-
7 – SG/SF JASON KAPONO : 7.9 PPG – 1.5 RPG – 1.4 APG – 0.08 SPG – 0.15 BPG – 15.2 MPG – 46.2 % FG – 48.9% (23/47) 3pt – 88.9 % FT
Jason is another surprise and effective scoring threat off the bench for Golden State. An acquisitions via the trade route from Charlotte the past month, Kapono has provided an excellent shooting touch that forces defences to open up thus allowing more basket-space for Troy Murphy and less clogging of the driving lanes for Jason Richardson. His 8 points in 15 minutes each game along with his adequate passing and driving skills make the UCLA alumn a bet for the team’s future. GRADE : B
8 – C ELDEN CAMPBELL : 4.9 PPG – 3.8 RPG – 0.7 APG – 0.46 SPG – 0.62 BPG – 13.1 MPG – 44.6 % FG – 0.0 3pt – 87.5 % FT
Elden is providing a big body subbing Divac and a rotational center who can hustle and score inside the key. By far the strongest specimen of Golden State big men along with Dale Davis, Big E brings his experience and mature play to Oakland in what should probablybeis last year as a professional NBA player, while providing tutelage for 18 –year old Biedrins whom he has taken under his wing both on and off the practice court. In November, Easy had a good stretch of games mid-month and helped solidify a good defensive effort inside the basket. GRADE: C
9 – PG TROY BELL : 3.4 PPG – 1.5 RPG – 2.2 APG – 0.62 SPG – 0.0 BPG – 17.4 MPG – 38.6 % FG – 25 % 3pt – 70.0 % FT
Another disappointment in the point guard position for the Warriors in November. A first round pick by Jerry West and the Memphis Grizzlies in 2003, Troy did not provide for Memphis last year and neither is he for Golden State as Claxton’s backup. Given Speedy’s struggles, Bell had more than enough opportunity in the beginning to snatch the starter’s position, yet he performed poorly with only 3ppg and 2apg in 17 mpg, making the whole PG situation in Oakland much more intense.Look for them trading for a PG before the deadline. GRADE: E

Dale, along with Elden Campbell, provides another big body coming off the bench and a hustler whose strength and experience provide some quality minutes in Golden State’s inside game. Now at 35, Davis would much rather be a part of a winning team,preferably a contender, as this could be his last year prior to retirement, but his professionalism allows him to give a full-out 100% every time he steps on th ehardwood. His expiring contract might prove a trading option for the Warriors sometime before the deadline. GRADE: C-
11 – SG/SF BERNARD ROBINSON : 2.8 PPG – 0.6 RPG – 1.0 APG – 0.2 SPG – 0 BPG – 5.4 MPG – 58.3 % FG – 0.0 % 3pt – 0 FT
Bernard, a trade acquisition from the Bobcats and a rookie, has not played much as the 3rd SG behind 40 mpg Richardson and Jason Kapono, but he seems to be the type of players who is adequate in everything but not quite good at anything in particular. Shows heart and a willingness to work on his shortcomings in practice, and has played himself into Mike Montgomery’s good books because of that. Don’t expect him to be a factor this season due to his lack of polish. GRADE: Inconclusive
12 – PF/SF/C ZARKO CABARCAPA : 2.0 PPG – 1.0 RPG – 0 APG – 0 SPG – 0 BPG – 4.2 MPG – 80.0 % FG – 0 3pt – 100.0 % FT
Zarko has played too few minutes overall for a full evaluation. Stuck behind veterans Divac, Davis, Campbell and upstart Troy Murphy, the Serbian big man is nowhere near starter status yet and will most likely not be for at least 3 or 4 years more. Given his selection in the middle of the 1st round last year, Cabarkapa has not justified the Suns’ selection, resulting in his move to GS. Look for the Oaklanders t off-load himsoon to make room for their own 1st rounder, Biedrins. GRADE: Inconclusive

Luis has not hit the floor much, either, but has provided spark off the backcourt whenever that happened with his explosion and high leaping ability. The main problem is that Flores, at 6’ 2”, is more of a shooting guard scorer than a point guard playmaker, which does not bode well for his future as a pro. He is definitely workinghard in practice, though, and could see his number of minutes increase given tha lack of an effective PG in the team. GRADE: C-

Andris is only 18 years old and the youngest player in the NBA at the moment. It is surprising he finds minutes for himself an almost every game, although the Golden State coaching staff are being careful about not over-exposing him to the rigors of NBA competition so early in his career. The Latvian prodigy has shown explosiveness near the basket and relative plasticity of movement, adding to the comcept that his upside is huge. Look for Boedrins to make an impact in the NBA if he works toward that end. GRADE: B-

Pina has not stepped out of the Injured Reserve at all in November and probably never will this season. His incredible shootong touch is countered by his portly physique and lack of motion on bith ends of the court. Perhaps those who claimed that he should pursue a career in football just like his brother were not so wrong after all. GRADE: Inconclusive

Talk about a highschool behemoth… At 7’ 1” and 274 lbs this kid dominates the pipsqueaks he faces at his highscool region in Oregon but that is not the sole reason for the hype he has been receiving so far, touting him as a lottery pick with a good chance to break into the Top 10. Andy is surprisingly quick and pacey for his size, while his strength is good but not proportional to his 274 lbs of body mass. An adequate scorer and good defender, has incredible durability and stamina, but needs to address his passing deficiencies. Given the lack of true centers in the league, Bogart might make the Top 5, although Robert Swift’s performance so far this season might scare some teams away from drafting another HS center with a lottery pick.

Kojo is one of those speedy short PGs with a knack for running the fast break. A college version of Speedy Claxton, Lewis is an average jump shooter lacking in shot mechanics, and his passes seem to be a bit rushed at times. Has too many shortcomings to be considered a solid investment, especially considered his senior status, but could become a solid backup in th eleague if he works his butt of in practices.

Mmmm, you mean an extremely poor, borderline homeless and suicidal version of Pippen, right. He' s jack of all trades, master of none, and although I like these players IRL, in NBA Live they just cannot cut the mustard...

James is a gargantuan giant, who stands at 7’ 5” above earth level and shows good promise. Given his size and age, it is natural that he is still quite raw and unpolished, especially offensively, but his mere height and considerable progress in every game aspect over his freshman year indicate that he is probably worth the risk. Exceptionally strong and with a flair for dunking with power, magden has to work on his inside scoring , stamina and rebounding ability if he is going to have a fruitful career as a pro. At this point he is a gamble that could turn out either way.

His laser-like passing ability combined with his athletiscism and ability to drive effectively to the basket, make for an explosive playmaker who can carry the game’s tempo and provide easy shots for teammates seemingly without breaking a sweat. His pass first – shoot second mentality is always appreciated by NBA scouts. Weaknesses include inconsistencies in his jumper, erratic free throw shooting and lack of upper body strength. Should definitely be a Top 5 pick in 2005.

Ryan has all the traits required of a great PG but a few shortcomings that seem to limit scouts’ opinion of him. At 6’ 8” he overlooks the court amazingly well, can pass like a young Magic, both fancy and effective, and is incredibly fast for his size… there are two thing that keep the scouts modest, though. First of all, his shooting is just plain awful for a peripheral player,as he has learned to rely on his height and quickness to drive to the basket rather than shoot from afar. Secondly, his awareness at both ends of the court is lacking, as he sometimes seems to lose his concentration and blow his assignments. Could become anything in the NBA from a Super Star to a total scrub.

I actually type it quite fast so it doesn't take me that much time to do the recaps, I find pursuing this dynasty to be a stress-relieving passtime...
What do you think about the rookies scouted so far,guys? Anything that strikes your interest?

Well, in Live 2005, if you have some playing experience under your belt, you can use height mis-matches to dominate a game. Just imagine a 7' 5" guy with a scouted speed of C-, meaning around 55 - 60 in game ratings... Maybe I'll call him "That Guy Up There"...

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS
1ST QTR
The home team came out stronger and found themselves leading 8 – 2 pretty early led by Jason Richardson, but the Wolves managed to stay in touch throughout the quarter mostly due to efficient peripheral play, especially Troy Hudson’s who had 7 points with one 3pointer. Kevin Garnett had an awkward landing during one of his rebound attempts and had to step to the bench for a while, an event that [b]spurned the Warriors into closing the 1st period leading 25 – 21[/b].
Kevin Garnett was the go-to gut for the Wolves at the beginning, and his injury affected their play severely...
2ND QTR
Kevin Garnett’s injury was nothing serious, so the lanky All-Star started the second quarter for the Timberwolves, leading their offensive production all the way to the half-time buzzer. While it was all KG for Minnesota, the Warriors spread their offense equally , with Richardson , Murphy and Claxton doing the most damage and bringing their team up ahead 39 – 29 with 6 minutes to go. At that point the game tempo slowed down to a halt , when KG took over once again and closed the gap for the Wolves, 46 – 39 at halftime.
J-Rich's 3point shooting had the warriors leading going into the halftime...
3RD QTR
Minnesota came out rampant in the second half. Closing all the lanes to the basket, playing stiff defence and finding the open man on offence, the away team managed to even out the score in no time, only 4 minutes into the quarter, 50 – 50. Then the only reliable inside threat for the Warriors, Troy Murphy, got injured during a spin move and had to watch the rest of the game from the bench. Without inside scoring, Golden State collapsed and gave way to KG to have a party both offensively and defensively. Aided by Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell, Garnett led them to a 64 – 71 lead to end the quarter, while all the Warriors had to show was Jason Richardson outside scoring.
Troy Murphy's injury left Golden State lacking in inside offense and turned the tide of the contest...
4TH QTR
Without any semblance of inside play, the Warriors were doomed, despite Vlade Divac’ efforts and Speedy Claxton’s passing spree. Garnett was out of control, scoring and rebounding at will, while Sam Cassell found his stroke from afar and torched a lacking Warriors’ defence. The deficit never went below 10 points and the Timberwolves cruised to a road victory in a season they started poorly. Final Score: 90 – 103.
Sprewell and co had no problem chalking up the W in the final stretch of the game...

Kevin Garnett’s injury was nothing serious, so the lanky All-Star started the second quarter for the Timberwolves, leading their offensive production all the way to the half-time buzzer. While it was all KG for Minnesota, the Warriors spread their offense equally , with Richardson , Murphy and Claxton doing the most damage and bringing their team up ahead 39 – 29 with 6 minutes to go. At that point the game tempo slowed down to a halt , when KG took over once again and closed the gap for the Wolves, 46 – 39 at halftime.

3RD QTR
Minnesota came out rampant in the second half. Closing all the lanes to the basket, playing stiff defence and finding the open man on offence, the away team managed to even out the score in no time, only 4 minutes into the quarter, 50 – 50. Then the only reliable inside threat for the Warriors, Troy Murphy, got injured during a spin move and had to watch the rest of the game from the bench. Without inside scoring, Golden State collapsed and gave way to KG to have a party both offensively and defensively. Aided by Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell, Garnett led them to a 64 – 71 lead to end the quarter, while all the Warriors had to show was Jason Richardson outside scoring.
Troy Murphy's injury left Golden State lacking in inside offense and turned the tide of the contest...
4TH QTR
Without any semblance of inside play, the Warriors were doomed, despite Vlade Divac’ efforts and Speedy Claxton’s passing spree. Garnett was out of control, scoring and rebounding at will, while Sam Cassell found his stroke from afar and torched a lacking Warriors’ defence. The deficit never went below 10 points and the Timberwolves cruised to a road victory in a season they started poorly. Final Score: 90 – 103.
Sprewell and co had no problem chalking up the W in the final stretch of the game...

In a press conference help at the Oakland Coliseum this afternoon, Golden State Warriors’ GM and owner Lance Donovan announced that the Californian franchise struck a deal last night with the Denver Nuggets involving the move of 5 players. In detail, PG Luis Flores, PF Zarko Cabarkapa and SF Pina Manuwaii will be playing in the Mile High Cith from now on, while SF Rodney White and PF Nikoloz Tskitishvilli will find themselves new homes under the Californian sun, east of San Francisco Bay.
Mr. Donovan stated that this deal was extremely sought after by him and his staff, as he has always considered the two young former lottery picks that his team acquired as sleepers with huge upside, especially considering the players Golden State had to offer as a countermeasure.
Denver Nuggets officials stated that the Colorado franchise was looking to get rid of disappointing Tskitishvilli and his more than 3 million salary next year, and get something for Rodney white, whom they would like to keep but had a feeling he would not resign after his contract would end this summer.

The Golden State Warriors announced today that they have signed point guard JR Bremer to a 1-year contract. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, as per franchise policy. Ernest (JR) Bremer was playing for an Italian team under a non-guaranteed contract that allowed him to negotiate freely with any NBA team up until 31/12/2004, so the 6’ 2” guard had no legal restraints from his European club. Bremer is considered a SG in a PG’s body and a 3 point specialist. Speed and agility are an issue, but Golden State will most likely use their new acquisition as a rotational player at both guards positions.

Chucky Atkins would shoot 3 pointers at crucial moments destroying any momentum the Warriors were attempting to build, thus the score became 48 – 39 with 1:57 to go. Then it happened: Troy Murphy and Jason Richardson took their team entirely on their shoulders and shared the points in a 0 – 10 run that closed the half 48 – 49 for Golden State.

With the unexpected aid of former Warriors Fisher and Pietrus off the bench, Los Angeles managed to finish the quarter ahead 82 – 78.

4TH QTR
2 straight 3 pointers by sharpshooter Jason Kapono had Golden State taking the lead once more 82 – 84 , but Kobe’s own 2 consecutive 3s made it 88 – 84 in a heartbeat. Los Angeles’ stiff defence resulting in quite a few steals and fast break opportunities and had the score 95 – 88 5 minutes into the final quarter. The visitors would not give up on their winning chances that easily,though, and led by Richardson and Kapono closed the gap to a point, 102 – 101 with 1:20 until the final buzzer, but that was as far as the Warriors could go in this contest, as the home team rallied in the final minute and had a 5 – 0 run that made it 107 – 101. The free throw contest that ensued would not change things by much, and the Lakers found themselves winning this one 111 – 103
