That is up there with the best dunks of all time. That was unbelieveable. Sure Mason might have got snubbed with that 43, but there was no disappointment in the end. Great dunk comp.

The whole contest was whoa. Well...except for RJ

...
Desmond and Jason both have athleticism and creativity. Desmond's first dunk was a lot more original then a simple cradle. If he had went for the kill in the finals instead of playing it safe he might've forced the dunk-off and won.
Either way...like they said...the dunk contest is back.

Well it was a positive sign that it has a future. I think it could be improved even more by a couple more contestents or a couple of extra dunks per contestent. It was a little short. I wanted more.

Well, yes, I'm glad the old format is back at least that's what it looked to me, maybe with the exception that they don't have that much opportunities to dunk, what we need now is more guys competing, that would turn the contest even more exciting.

more guys and more opportunities and more rounds and more incentive for players to compete will make this more exciting than the all-star game itself.
Man i'd love to get the tnt motion cam poster of that last dunk

I personally liked Desmond Mason's scissor-kick dunk, where he came down the right side and scissor kicked his legs. While Jason Richardson's last dunk was phenomenal, technically and aesthetically (and unexpected, too, as it were), I feel that Mason's dunk was more aesthetically pleasing.
It had great extension, looked amazing, and was beautiful -- in a simple kind of way.
The best part of that dunk can be held in a single pose, while Richardson's last dunk is an entire motion (through the legs, to lefty-reverse). I think the poster of Mason's dunk will look much better.
I admit Richardson's dunk was a better one, but my personal favorite was Des-Mason's scissor kick dunk.
All the best,
Eugene

Jefferson dissappointed me in the dunk comp, but Mason and Richardson impressed me VERY much. The competition was very impressive in my opinion. It was basically Mason vs. Richardson in my eyes and DAMN, did they deliver. J-Rich's final dunk makes me hope he will come back again next year... and perhaps deliver on that 360 between the legs idea he thought up.

I didn't get to see it...I'm biding time untill Sports Tonight comes on TV
.
How did Amare go?
Sun Feb 09, 2003 2:41 pm
richardson is one of only 2 players in nba history to repeat as champ two years in row. guess who's the first
(thanks to andrew for the info)
I must agree...mason's second dunk was high flyin....i give it a 49. I'd love the poster of both dunks.
Sun Feb 09, 2003 3:15 pm
I loved that dunk!!!! got me out of my seat....
Mason was disappointing in the final...Jefferson shouldn't have even been participating...Stoudamire should have been in the final...to bad he missed that dunk...
meanwhile...J-Rich's 1st two dunks were great...last one beat all the dunks i've seen in the last 5 years not including VC...
silly Jordan always gave the highest points
beautiful slam dunk contest...too short....but beautiful...

I bet they don't even show it. Good old channel Ten.How did Amare go?
Missed his first attempt at a between the legs, replaced it, then got it. Got good height and it looked pretty smooth. His second dunk was an attempt at a big 360. He just missed it and failed to qualify.Jefferson shouldn't have even been participating
No way. I would have rather seen someone like Gerald Wallace or Fred Jones.

Arenas MVP and J-Rich dunk champion... Finally the Warriors are winning something... Heh.
hey, J-Rich already won the Dunk competition last year
besides, I think Gilbert, J-Rich and Tawn will be the next TMC
And Troy is like a mix between Owens versatility and Ty Hill rebounds
and...oh well, just made a damn playoff run for once...plz?
Wed Feb 12, 2003 2:48 pm
Heh... Run ARJ... lol
I wish they get a real center... That Dampier/Foyle center by commitee kills me...
Wed Feb 12, 2003 3:04 pm
Actually would be Run GJA

as TMC is the first names of Hardaway (tim) Richmond (mitch) and Mullin (chris)
About the Center issue...me too

but honestly I dont think there's many centers much better than 'em, at least not that we could get, we have to re-sign Gilbert next year whos making the league min.
What we need to do for now is stay healthy so the guys can play together and keep improving, almost an impossible mission last decade.
Wed Feb 12, 2003 3:18 pm
Yeah, I agree with everything you said...
Foyle, to say you the truth, is better than almost all backup centers in the league... I dare to say he averages more bpg than every center who is a backup... besides only Keon Clark, who isn't really a true center.
I doubt Arenas will be resigned... I dunno... I hope he can stick around... But offers will galore...
