Here are what I think some of the best trades ever, in no particular order:

1995.Chicago trades Will Perdue to San Antonio for Dennis Rodman
Coach Poppovitch wanted Rodman out, and well, at last he managed. But it was a kind of a bid for the Bulls, cause at that time Rodman was considered as a player who could cause trouble in the team.

1984.Boston trades Gerald Henderson to Seattle for a first round pick
The idea was twofold: 1) Open up more playing time for Danny Ainge; and 2) Hope that the Sonics would deteriorate and ultimately provide the Celtics with a prime pick.
The Sonics could not have cooperated much better. They won 31 games in the 1985-86 season and finished second in the lottery. The Celtics, winners of 67 regular-season games and their 16th NBA title, would have the No. 2 pick in the draft.
This trade was excellent until the Celtics drafted with that pick Len Bias, a very promising player who died of an overdose 2 days after he was drafted

2004.Detroit gets Rasheed Wallace in a three-team trade
The Pistons knew they could win as soon as they got Wallace. The Pistons didn't lost any significant players in this trade, even Lindsey Hunter, who was part of the trade, was quickly released by the Celtics and came back to Detroit.

2000. Indiana trades Dale Davis for Jermaine O'Neal
A great bid, after 4 years in the league, O'Neal was a disappointing prospect while Davis was an established veteran. Davis was still productive after, but it's far from looking like

2000. Detroit trades Grant Hill to Orlando for Ben Wallace
I think it's one of the best trade ever cause at that time everyone though that was Orlando who made the steal. 4 years later and one NBA title after, you can't say the same even if Grant Hill actually looks like to recover.

1987. Chicago trades Olden Polynice for Scottie Pippen
No need to comment the trade, I just wans to add that Seattle owned this pick from New York, after they traded Gerald Henderson (read above). Looks like Henderson was a kind of a curse for the Sonics

L.A. CLIPPERS traded G Brent Barry to MIAMI in exchange for C Isaac Austin, G Charles Smith and a conditional 1998 first-round draft pick

Auerbach dealt the first and 13th picks in the 1980 NBA Draft to Golden State for the third pick in the 1980 Draft and four-year veteran center Robert Parish. The Warriors selected Purdue center Joe Barry Carroll with the first pick and tabbed Mississippi forward Rickey Brown 13th. The Celtics took forward Kevin McHale of Minnesota, and thus added Parish and McHale to a frontcourt that already featured Larry Bird and Cedric Maxwell. In one trade, Auerbach had acquired a frontcourt for the next decade.

I'll go with an easy one, Charlotte trades the rights to Kobe Bryant for Vlade Divac

I think it's not that a best trade as you have to remind that as soon as Kobe got drafted, he babycried to play only for the Lakers. Indeed the Hornets can consider themselves lucky that they got Divac in return, who has been a fairly good contributor in his Charlotte days.

Meanwhile, the Dirk Nowitzki trade is indeed what I can call a STEAL Too bad I forgot it

The Nets were "forced" to trade Erving after the Nets owner got an argument with Erving for cash issues... For sure it was an excellent move for the Sixers

Don't remember all the trades, but wasn't Golden State THE ultimate team of stupid trades? Sure someone knows more names, they should 've had some great NBA stars on that team.

golden state had an unreal amount of talent on thier team and instead of being patient they traded away billy owens and the entire team fell apart from thier. i mean at one time they had owens, webber, mullen,spreewell, and hardaway. golden state has been on the bad end of alot of uneven trades throughout history. lets not forget that golden state actually spent 3 draft picks just to get webber so that hurt them also. they should have kept that team for atleast 2 full years before breaking it up.

as Najira already mentioned the trade they made with the celtics is imo the most lopsided trade in the history of basketball(i consider the sale of babe ruth and the Herschel Walker trade to phily the 2 most lopsided trades in sports history).

also i dont think trades like the kobe bryant one for divac should really be on this list. when a player basicly demands out of a city they have to accept anything they can get otherwise they risk losing the player for nothing. steve francis did this to the griz if you remember.

Kidd-Marbury trade

Not even close. Not even close...

NJ was a team full of injuries with Marbury. JKidd got there and they were healthy, and gained guys like Richard Jefferson. Whereas, Phoenix blew up the team and traded key contributors like Cliff Robinson for bums. Then throughout the season they made trades that disrupted team chemistry, but helped them out later (see: Trading for Joe Johnson.)

One trade that comes to mind that in a few years could be a very good trade is the one where Detroit sent Otis Thorpe to Vancouver for a future first round pick, that turned out to be Darko. So far, it hasn't lloked too bad for Vancouver/Memphis, but if Darko eevr improves to a Gasol/Nowitzki level, it would definitely qualify.

Statistically, Shawn Kemp had some of the best seasons in his career in Cleveland.

The lockout was really the downfall of Kemp's career, as was accepting a backup role in Portland after a fine season in Cleveland in 1999/2000 (his third year with the team). I'd list his cocaine addiction as another contributing factor.

As I understand it, the Lakers wanted to draft Kobe, but didn't think they'd be able to snag him with their first round pick (which eventually became Derek Fisher). Divac was shipped in order to free up cap room to sign Shaquille O'Neal. George Lynch and Anthony Peeler were dealt for the same reason, both of them ending up in Vancouver.

New Orleans Jazz trade their first round pick in 1979 to the Los Angeles Lakers as compensation for signing Gail Goodrich

That pick became the first overall selection, and turned out to be Magic Johnson. Not such a great deal for the Jazz though.
