Favourite Jordan Dunk

Postby Waz on Mon Feb 14, 2005 4:56 pm

Since its the 20th anniversary of MJ's rookie season i was just wonderin wat everyones favourite Jordan dunk or lay up is.

Mine two favourites are his alley against Milwaukee wen he just slammed it straight down with 2 hands simpley coz he was just that high its jaw dropping and that move against new jersey where he moved in and out of like 3 or 4 defenders and was sumhow able to put up a clean shot that looked as effortless as a lay up on a break

my personal is the cradle-to-rock one (only because everyone already loves the FT line double pump)

best layup had to be lakers-bulls finals. omg was that NASTY. switch in mid-air, while he's going down? shit..

good consideration for best layup coulda been the "Jordan embarrasses Ehlo.. again" when he backs ehlo down only to get fouled, throw a flip "cradle-the-rock" motion in behind his back on his left side (he was backing down on the left post). FOUL AND 1 :!:

I love that one that put Ewing on the poster. That dunk basically represented the whole bulls dynasty in the 90s. (How the Bulls repeatedly dominated the Knicks in the playoffs)

Today, I'll say the windmill off the backboard pass from Isiah Thomas in the 1989 All-Star game.

I don't remember exactly what team it was against, but my favorite layup was (it was Horace Grant's favorite one too) when he went through like four defenders and moved the ball around the bodies and the arms in midair and scooped it in the basket.

My favorite dunk was probably when he was a young-un and he was going so incredibly fast and he just jumped right over someone for a monster tomahawk. He was so fast and he jumped so far, it was just an incredible blur.

My favorite layup was against the Detroit Pistons, he went on a fast break with a pass from I-don't-know-who, alone against Bill Laimbeer. He does a 180° and just throws it up in the air. And one. It's just crazy.

My favorite dunk definitely has to be the free-throw line, I had never seen anything like it when I first saw it... :P

I hope they bring that wheel of retro dunks back this year....its nice to see the news guys go attempt classic dunks......I hope one of them gets one of Vinsanity's dunk.....if they do it, holy shit the whole of Denver will erupt....

as for Jordan dunks....I dont remember alot of his....but did he do a reverse 360 once...not sure but from what I remember ill say his free throw line although Dr.J prolly did jump at least from an inch behind ...

my favorite jordan dunk was the one vs the knicks in the playoffs. the knicks had been beating on jordan all night and he throws one down in someones face(slips my mind now) and then he starts yelling in thier face as they are on the ground. was a rather basic dunk but when he did it and who it did it too(god i hate the knicks) made me love it so much

I honestly don't remember. I think the layup is either against the Cavs or the Knicks, but the dunk, I'm not sure. It's from the Michael Jordan VHS pack (three VHS box set)

That was one of my fave dunks too. I think that's the dunk over Patrick Ewing.

from what I recall no NBA player has ever done a completely behind the free throw line dunk. Im sure some can probly do it (and maybe have in practice), but everyone I saw and I think ive seen everyone in competition, and none were behind the line completely. I've seen some college players do it completley behind the line.

I don't know of any sites that have the game or the highlight sorry, but I'll see if I can get it onto my PC. I can't guarantee great quality but I'll give it a shot.

i think that was against the nets. if you watch closely the replay, even the nets bench players were amazed by the move and were even applauding it

my favorite jordan dunk was in the playoffs @MSG vs NYK where MJ reverse pivots baseline then dunks on ewing

was that a dunk though? if we're talking about he same play, jordan goes up like he's going to dunk it but ewing fouls him so hard, jordan couldn't slam it home, he just sorta dropped it in. then ewing fell and jordan got so hype and yelled some expletive in his face. wow.. i had never seen jordan so hype before

those nyk playoff series were great

agreed

Mine is by far the Rock-the-cradle dunk. My favorite layup was the one everyone already said (the one where he switches hands while going down and makes it). My favorite Jordan moment would be the famous winning jumper while moving.

My favorite lay-up is that one against the Nets. He gets the ball, fakes Petrovic a 3 pt, and goes to the rim, and does that sick move (Y) (Y) (Y)
And dunks, the Ewing one. He made Starks AND Oakley look extremely dumb (Y)
