yeah yao's a joke.. brad miller should've definitely taken his place in the all star team. sad thing is though even if yao turns into shawn bradley next year, he'll still be voted in by the fans till the day he retires *pukes*

yeah i know....IMO they should get rid of the fan voting......it's ridiculous that yao sets a new voting record when he isn't All-Star worthy. Or just get rid of the asia votes.

and was unpredictable for a Ben Wallace fan. :x

Yay! No Kings. :D

The first time all-stars clearly deserved to be there especially Manu, Wade and Arenas.

said Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni, who found fault with the fans' balloting choices. "I don't want to offend anyone, but some starters shouldn't be on there."

i think he's referring to Yao & Carter....they eat up 2 spots. Paul Pierce is lucky this year, he wouldnt have made it had Jefferson not get injured.

You know at least one of them deserved to be there. I would have liked to see Bibby get his first nod.

i definetly agree with banning the fans from voteing. i understand why the nba allows it as it makes the fans feel more apart of the league but all i see it doing is constantly involving people in the all star game who dont belong there. yao hill and carter didnt deserve to be all stars, let alone starters.

Why should Brad Miller be an All-Star over Yao?

Oh, and don't worry about Ginobili's minutes. In all likelihood, he'll be a starter.

haha, forgot about Artest. Although, if fans vote was cancelled both Jefferson & Artest would of made it.

agreed, although it's great to see Hill there (Y)

How are the fans stupid for voting for Yao? Yao had no competition on the All-Star ballot, and deserved his votes by default. Guys like Webber weren't snubbed because of Yao, because they're not centers. The only other center you can even consider is Brad Miller, and he is NOT better than Yao.

Yao's stats
Brad's stats

-Yao's the much better low post scorer. Any argument about him being soft and unaggressive can be applied even worse to Brad Miller, who's a 15-20 foot jump shooter. 55% of Yao's FGAs are close to the basket, compared to 45% for Brad Miller.

-Yao is a target of double/triple teams. Brad Miller isn't.

-Yao's the MUCH better shot blocker. He blocks 3.7% of all FGAs while he's on the floor. Counting only shots in the paint (since shot blockers are desired for interior defense), Yao blocks 11%. Brad Miller only blocks 1.8% and 5%, respectively.

-Brad Miller has higher rpg, but that's very deceptive. He only grabs 7.1% of his offensive rebound chances, and 17.8% of his defensive rebound chances. He is outrebounded by opposing centers by 2.7 rebounds per 48 minutes. Yao pulls down 8.9% on the offensive end, and 19.2% on the defensive end. Yao outrebounds his opponents by 2.8 rebounds per 48 minutes.

-Brad Miller has a high apg for a center, while Yao is averaging <1. However, the disparity in passing skill is not as high as this suggests. Yao is actually a very good passer, but his skills aren't being utilized. In the Kings' Princeton Offense, the center is the playmaker, and is given many passing oppurtunities because of constant backdoor cutting. The Rockets either ignore Yao on offense (use him only to set picks), or they just dump the ball into him and stand around while he battles against multiple defenders. I'm not saying Yao's as good or better than Brad at passing (since we don't know how well he would do in a better offense), just that you can't go by apg alone.

Conclusion: Yao>Miller

I think the coaches made just as much, if not more errors than the fans this year.

I don't think the fans had errors. They just voted for who they wanted to see.

The ballot should be done starting January.....that way fans get to see through the first 2 months who deserves to play.

Secondly, Stoudemire should have been listed as C because that's what he played all season even though he isn't a C.

Honsetly, Yao shouldnt be on the team.....screw the whole "you need a C", nah, they should let PF's be voted in @ C........that way guys like Gasol, Webber, Brand could play.....theres no way Yao should be ahead of those 3.

Also, no one wants to see yao play except for the chinese....i mean, he set the record for most votes...why? his play isn't worthy of more votes than Shaq, LeBron, KG, AI, Kobe etc

they might as well cancel all-star weekend.....no Dre, MC or Melo.....but honestly those all-star teams look really crappy....and now Amare is entering the dunk contest....good gosh here we go with more pow-wow dunks instead of razzle dazzle.....

All I have to say is this is one all-star weekend that I have nothing to look forward to...oh well at least Melo's in the rookie game and Allen's on the all-star squad.

Amare is a pure PF. He's only the so-called C on his team because his team plays small ball.

Honsetly, Yao shouldnt be on the team.....screw the whole "you need a C", nah, they should let PF's be voted in @ C........that way guys like Gasol, Webber, Brand could play.....theres no way Yao should be ahead of those 3.

Please explain your reasoning for why those three are better than Yao. Yao has Gasol beaten in every stat except for apg and ppg (but Yao has higher FG%), and Gasol's every bet as "soft" if not more than him. Webber is a defensive and rebounding liability. Brand's a bit below his usual standards statistically. Not that I know for sure whether Yao is doing better than Webber or Brand, I just want to see your arguments

Also, no one wants to see yao play except for the chinese....i mean, he set the record for most votes...why? his play isn't worthy of more votes than Shaq, LeBron, KG, AI, Kobe etc

Get your facts straight before you say something. Most of Yao's votes come from the USA. Did you know that last year, he was beaten by Shaq in internet voting, but won because of paper votes?

Also about Amare being listed as a Center, the All-Star settings are done before the season starts, and no one expected Amare to play center, and the Suns to play small ball. Many of us expected them to have Q-Rich as the 6th man who plays 30+ MPG, and have one of the other guys play center.

Even if that was true, what's your point? You shouldn't count Chinese fans' votes?
