After somebody called me a douchebag, I decided to take your article for a read, and I'm impressed (y)

Your defense seems to picture Michael in the spotlight, but Chris_23 does show that there could be a negative side. I would say that Michael is fiercely competitive, and that his attitude on the court is arrogant (trash talks). Off the court, I don't know much about this man, but if he's a family guy, then I would question the near-divorce with his wife, and the million dollar hush money that I'm reading about lately. I'm surprised that he balances his diet with McDonald's. Didn't know that! Again, good article, and very articulate.

Its a Movie, Were they use some sort of mind controll on some soldiers to make them beleive that this one soldier deserved the Medal of Honor and to be treated as if he was a god. Its pretty good.

If they don't know much about Michael Jordan, then it seems pretty persuasive, but if they raise questions, then be ready to defend your essay.

Thanks alot ppls! maybe i'll hire it out.. maybe i can play with ppl's minds!

trust me.. im in australia, MJ's perceived image is aquaeky clean to most here to start off with. Only once you look into his life through rerading- then u know the true michael. My job is to persuade ppl. If they dont know much, i can use my speech, otherwise- true. I need to defend my speech!

You manage to confuse me more with every sentence in that reply. First you say that his image is clean in Australia (it is clean in all over the world), adn then you say that only once in your life you learn this what you call "true michael". Is yous true michael then this clean image youve drawn in your essay?

Your job is to persuade people? If they dont much, then you draw more and more on this canvas of clean image making it more beautiful, and more like a myth.

The beauty though, that separates myth from the beauty of real life, is the balance with the ugly part. Michael became near-perfect basketball player through his imperfect-basketball play.

If you persuade peopel that he is indeed so pure and godlike, then theres really nothing to defend against, or give to the audience except just more and more this godlike myth.

Michaels life was far from myth, and that is the reason I respect him. I cant find respect for someone who is described only through his good and moral part of his life. You can never really give the subject to the audience that way. Through both sides of life, the good and the bad, you can really build up to what made him who he was as a basketball player. Just going through the awe-inspiring incidents in his life is yes perhaps good, but it shall only give the myth of the man and never, ever the man himself.

So if you talk about this "only once in life you see the true michael" and such, along with "to persuade peopel who dont know that much", all you are really giving to your audience is more and more of this myth, and not this true michael you yourself name as once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Perhaps its better for you to ask yourself, what do you want to listen to in a lecture, the truth, or the myth that no one can really relate to?

Then never name the article "Jordan's World View". in fact its a bad name even if youd not talk about myths.

Nice collection of so-to-speak facts, but as an article its weak.

chris_23... do u even know what a world view is?

Basically a world view is a group of someone's beliefs, ideas about life which motivates them to do well.. so on second thought, how does michael's flaws affect his world view??

Thanks for the article Sit, I enjoyed reading it. (Y)

It's interesting how Michael Jordan (and indeed other celebrities known the world over) is the subject of such polarised biographies. I don't think I've ever read a book about him that you could really consider the whole truth. I've read "Rebound" and it is a good book, but it is an example of brushing aside some of the negative stories. It mentions how he defended Bill Wennington against some arena staff who mocked him for being beaten off the dribble in a one-on-one game against MJ before practice, but not the scuffle with Steve Kerr (which Kerr admitted to starting).

But then at the other end of the spectrum, you have Sam Smith and the "Jordan Rules", books that are meant to expose the "truth". Such books are also good to read and offer interesting perspectives, but they contain just as much bias. The "Jordan Rules" portrays Jordan as a selfish teammate concerned only with his own goals in spite of the team, but fails to mention a lot of positive aspects of his character, or his game.

There almost seems to be a battle between both sides of the media - those who want to boost the image celebrities have and those who want to tear it down. I guess we all get too caught up in the idea of celebrity. We care so much about people we'll probably never meet. We probably care too much when it comes to their day to day life, their behaviour and their personalities. We create impossible standards for our fellow human beings simply because they have some sort of talent, then blast them when they can't live up to those expectations.

I haven't seen many games he's played in.

I specifically remember that 1998 Finals Shot against Utah thought. My Grandpa and I both watched it.
