Draft Question

Postby NNpF on Sun Feb 06, 2005 4:55 pm

I was just wondering...

Does anybody know whether or not Hakeem Warrick, Gerry McNamara and J.J. Redick will be in the upcoming draft?

I've been paying a lot of attention to Syracuse lately because I've heard some nice things, even though I'm not really into college ball.

And whenever I see Duke highlights I hear that J.J. Redick may be the best shooter in the world.

So if anybody knows the draft status of these three players I would be happy to know.

Thanks

Hakim Warrick's a senior as far as I know so he'll definately be a lock for mid-1st Round in the draft....McNamara is a junior as far as I know so he won't be in the draft this year....I don't think J.J. Reddick will declare either and is doesn't figure to be a high pick at the moment as far as I know....

Oh man, who ever snags hakim warrick is getting a steal if he goes any lower then 11. Hakim is going to be a very very good NBA player.

McNamara i dont think is going to have a very big impact.

I disagree...to an extent. McNamara is a very good ball player and works very well with Hakim Warrick..seeing as how the NBA thrives on athletic guys like Warrick, McNamara could very well end up the type of point guard that Steve Nash is...that is, having athletic guys around him to compliment his passing abilities will only make him look better...if he was to play in a stagnant offense with no real athletic 'star' with witch he could gel with, that would make him look worse.

Plus is a pretty decent 3pt shooter either from a set shot or off the dribble...and his range is that of NBA standards...he's kind of like Mike Bibby in my opinion.

Warrick will be very good, especially if that outside shot he's working on starts to show (Y)

or he could just stick to jumping over peoples heads and dunking on 'em! (Y)
seriously though, if hakims outside shot becomes consistent enough to be viewed by defenders as a threat then he'll be able to use his quickness and explosiveness to get to the rim and finish...throw a head fake and BOOM!
personally i cant wait to see what Warrick does in the NBA...he'll be the rookie that i'll pay more attention to.

Redick, ughh. He's a streak shooter. He's great at moving without the ball and can make mediocre defenders look like fools with his pump fake...but he can't create for himself at all. He's one-dimensional, and even so, he can't make threes when they count. He's at his most deadly during runs and open fast break points. Great free throw shooter though, but by no means the best shooter in the world, or even in the college basketball game.

McNamara is another streak shooter, another great college basketball player who will be able to use his talents in Europe, but most likely not the NBA. His point guard skills are nothing special. A poor man's version of Tony Delk if you ask me.

Warrick is the only player of the three with a real NBA future. We've all heard of Class-A Athleticism, well this guy is Class-AAA, up there with Kevin Garnett and James White. His game is much more polished than it was when he first started out at Syracuse. Probably the opposite of Redick and McNamara in that his game is much more suited for the NBA.

warrick is a freak. he'll probably turn into an all-star later in his career. agree with gloveguy for mcnamara. i probably think reddick will be a steve kerr type of player. as for futures the list probably goes
1.warrick
2. reddick
3. mcnamara
