Nique could do some semi-fancy stuff while dunking hard though. IMO, Amare just can't do that.

Stat is a awesome power dunker that can posterize you, perhaps the best at his position. But he should keep it in the games or invite a teammate to dunk over him. All the dunks I have seen from him are just hard or in your face style, nothing creative Imo. His between the legs dunk was good but not great, it has been done by smaller players and it looked better on them Imo (Rider, Davis, Kobe etc.) Same with the 360 type of dunk which he missed.

I wish him all the best but he wont even come close to winning the thing.

I read somewhere that jones didn't want to defend his title because he didn't want to be labeled as just a dunker

I have the 2001 McDonalds dunk comp on my computer with Josh Smith, J.R Smith, T.J Ford and James White in it and all of them threw down some sick dunks.

Desmond Mason, Richardson, Kobe T-Mac, and Carmelo Anthony have all said they would not compete in another dunk competition although it would be nice to see them again.

Lebron and Wade would be nice to see. Of course Fred Jones will be there.
Carter has not siad no to the dunk competition and I have a strong feeling he might enter it in the next year ort so. I read a new article last night saying he probly would enter if he is healthy and back in shape cause he still has some nice dunks no one has seen yet.

I've heard that about Carter too. And Carmelo hasn't been in an NBA Dunk contest yet.

For the record and im gonna get BASHED for this by a few people, If Fred Jones was the same height as J-Rich but kept all the rest of his skills ie his Vertical. J-Rich wouldnt have a chance in hell or in heaven. For Fred jones height he is a bad ass dunker and nobody can stop him from winning again this year unless j-rich or vince goes again. And no i dont think LeBron knows any other dunk except the one he allways does.

when I watched the 2001 dunk contest I was wondering who this terence ford guy was on the dunk comp. then I found out later its T.J Ford.
by the way you think what jones did in lasty ears dunk comp. was something special cause he is only 6 3 then u must not of heard of a guy named spudd webb. there are better dunkers than fred jones for their height. T.J Ford is an example too.

In my opinion, the contest has not been the same since 2000. The excitement hasn't been the same. Having 4 dunkers is just stupid. Why don't they have only 4 shooters in the 3 pt shootout instead?? I really do hope they change things around for the sake of the competition.

In relation to the topic, Amare won't do too well with his height. That will go against him as the judges will factor that into their scoring. He's got some power dunks in the game, but that's about all we've seen. Unless he does something never seen before or the competition isn't good, he won't win it.

Amare has hops and power. If he can use that to his advantage and mix it up with "new tricks" that nobody has ever seen, then he can make surprises.

If you think T.J Ford can dunk like Fred Jones then you need to get your head right, He can dunk but not like him. And how many little guys have you seen that has as much likeness to Spudd Webbs skills other than Fred Jones. You name them out. On the other hand how many people can dunk like Michael Jordan hmmm lets see..... LeBron, J-Rich, T-Mac, Vinsanity, Josh Smith..... It keeps going and going.

And if im not mistaken isnt T.J Ford's career on the line becuase of a neck injury, I doubt hes doing anything for a while.
