BLOCKBUSTER TRADE

Only a day before the start of the New York Knicks season they have made a trade, following through with the new faces policy 2004/2005 that owner Pol06 had guaranteed. He wants the Knicks have strong dynasty in the short to mid term future. So bring in a 24 to 27 year star was expected, However this was not to be at all as now former Orlando and Detroit star Grant Hill has been given the all clear to resurrect his career. But the price was not cheap as future star Jamal Crawford, quality veteran Tim Thomas and promising rookie Trevor Arizor were shipped off to Orlando. The deal also involved forward Pat Garrity and young gun DeShawn Stevenson leaving Orlando. Owner Pol06 had a very positive reaction when he heard the trade had gone through and was delighted even though knowing of Hill’s recent injury troubles. “I think he’s past his injury’s and will be as rearing and good to go as any younger player in the league, He is still a super fit man and we look forward to teaming him up with Stephon (Marbury).” With no centre being dealt in the deal the Knicks still look a little short in that position and owner Pol06 realises that “ Other team do have some stronger centres and we may well go after one either by trade or free agents very soon. But for now I’m very happy with the deal and believe we can replace what we lost and benefit even more from what we have gained.”

ImageGrant Hill on coming to New York
“I can’t wait to get there and start all over, I am back from injury and ready to play. I think that this year may well be my best yet with the experience I have got over the years I am ready to let loose in Madison Square Garden.”

ImageJamal Crawford on leaving New York
“ I am very disappointed as I thought I had final proven myself to the owners and the entire basketball world and I was ready to become a key player along side Stephon (Marbury), but unfortunately I’ve been sent from a playoff contender to last years worst team. Looks like ill be starting.”

GAME 1
New York 18 29 17 21 85
New Jersey 31 14 22 6 73

Stephon Marbury was only one assist of a triple double as he lead his Knicks to a win in their season debut. New Jersey couldn’t get going on offence when it came down to it in the last quarter even though they had Carter with 25, Jefferson with 20 and Kidd with 19. The three scoring 64 of the teams 73 points. Stephon Marbury was the best player on court with 24 points 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Alan Houston also started his season strongly with 25 yet a bad sign was from veteran recruit Grant Hill who scored only 9 points and had 4 rebounds. Centre Nahz Muhhamed and Forward Kenny Thomas dominated the boards pulling down 16 and 13 respectively.

GAME 2
New York 27 19 34 14 22 116
Memphis 31 30 15 18 17 111

New York prevailed yet again, this time in overtime against Memphis. Grant Hill proved his worth knocking down an equal team high of 36 points. Marbury was also able to get the points on the board also with 36 points. Yet even this high score couldn’t be a game high score with Pau Gasol playing as he went to work inside dominating the shorter opposition as he soured his way to an amazing 40 points. Allan Houston played a solid game shooting 17 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, flicking out 4 assists and pinching 2 steals but it wasn’t enough for votes in the New York MVP. Kenny Thomas was again able to get the rebounds with 13 more to his tally proving to be very valuable against Memphis who found the defence to much in overtime.

QUESTIONS ARISE OVER EARLY TRADE
Owner Pol06 has stated to the press that he has absolutly no doubt in his mind that they have made a positive move by trading for Grant Hill. "We know that this was a big change but we believe it was the right one and that we will benefit more by doing so than if not. Otherwise we wouldnt have made the trade." He also stated that he realised that they had given up two key players for one key player but that they thought that Grant Hill was capable of leading the team in his career reserrection.

ANOTHER EARLY TRADE
After being criticised over the Grant Hill trade owner Pol06 has seemed to make another trade, maybe as a slight cover up. It has also had players with large contracts involved. The deal gave New York a new starting centre Brian Grant and backup Medvedenko in exchange for two strong bench players Penny Hardaway and Mike Sweetney. "We think the deal will favour us as it has giving us a stronger centre for two player who struggled for minutes with us in our first two games, so it is defenitly an improvment in probably the weakest part of our game, which is the big men." said owner Pol06 as he met the press for the second time this week. Bruno Sundov and Jamison Brewer were also released on this day.

“I think that New York might be able to get something big happening this year or the next so i am excited that i have the oppotunity to be involved in something that could be very special.”

That's a bad trade for the Knicks. Sweetney's shown some promise. Slava and Grant will never be anything other than what they are and they aren't much.

Okay, now all you have to do is dump the big cash - eaters at the "Charlotte Bobcats Shelter for the overpaid unwanted" and maybe get Meka. Brian Grant??? What were you thinking, man??? 33 year old undersized center with 13m salary for 3 years???

But still, after all those flukes, you're still better than Isaea....

GAME 5

Atlanta 19 29 14 25 87

New York was back in business against the weak atlanta side. Atlanta took the honours early in the 4th and it looked like they would take the match, but agressive offence forced both Antoine Walker and Al Harrington out of the game via foul out. This came at the right time as those two players were the keys in the 4th quarter start. Fortunatly for New York they were able to pull off the victory from there.

Amare Stoudamire also carved up the knicks with 6 blocks including 3 in overtime. It was especially dissapointing after Marbury was able to get 16 assists and watch Grant Hill score a strong 29 points and bring down 13 rebounds.

GAME 8
New York 18 16 18 21 73
San Antonio 28 24 21 24 97

San Antonia ripped up New York in just about everyway especially early. Little frenchman Tony Parker was a key to there success pulling down 10 rebounds and scoring 13 points. Apart from that there stats were well spread out with no one dominant player. This was also true for New York who once again looked very shaky. This is becomeing a regular trend and doesnt look good for the future of New York.
