Do you know that Thorn waited until 5:55 p.m. to send in his claim for Campbell? The deadline was 6 p.m. But he waited and waited, making the Pistons believe they were going to pass, then, boom, snatched Campbell right out of their grasp. You could almost hear Thorn giggling to himself.

I think it's a fair move. It's business. If Pistons wanted Campbell then they shouldn't have friggin' traded him away. As simple as that. Arroyo will help the team a lot more than Campbell ever would have anyway.

 Thats cold blooded.

I think they may have included him in the trade to match salaries.

I understand the business side of it, but if Nets wanted a big man and he's the best available why wait so long before signing? Isn't that a bit silly. Wouldn't it be wiser to have signed him ASAP.

Oh well, I'm guessing this Campbell experiment is going to work out just like the Mutombo experiment.

This doesn't really affect the Pistons until they face Miami

yeah, I can understand the taunting of Pistons' management, but you shouldn't really toy with a player's emotions like that....

I would like to see Elden suit up for Nets though, and help Nets into a low playoff seeding....won't count on it though....but then again, they're only about 4 games back on Boston....

Oh no, maybe he was waiting to see if someone else would pick him up first, who cares. The Nets are desperate for size anyways, so they did what they had to do. Their only like 3 games back in the Atlantic now too.

i read that this just another episode in the ongoing soap opera between these 2 teams.

it's amusing hearing a detroit's media member/fan bitter take on it

the nets need a big guy so i think its a good pickup. his contract runs out this year + campbell had that great finals series. haha they could have done worse and signed paul shirley to a 2yr contract

Tue Feb 01, 2005 8:38 am

Yeah...but he did do it to piss Pistons' people off...

Tue Feb 01, 2005 9:19 am

LMAO that's awesome!

I'm not a huge fan of Thorn either, but calling him an asshole because of this....?

That's a little harsh don't you think?

Who am I kidding...He dismantled the Nets...Asshole

Tue Feb 01, 2005 12:04 pm

Yeah...but he did do it to piss Pistons' people off...

Ah well....

Tue Feb 01, 2005 12:37 pm

Just because he waited, that doesn't make him an asshole. There could be a number of reasons as to why. Perhaps management were debating if they wanted him, or perhaps they were waiting to see if a more favourable team (for Campbell) would make a claim. And calling him an asshole for adding a bigger body to the Nets is a bit harsh.

But each to their own... :D

Tue Feb 01, 2005 1:12 pm

i think it's fair.
Gotta think towards the business point of view.

Tue Feb 01, 2005 4:53 pm

i think you need to read the whole article and then maybe you'll conclude that he is an asshole
