New York/Toronto 4-player swap

Postby kibaxx7 on Fri Jan 21, 2005 6:19 am

New York Daily News wrote:TORONTO - Isiah Thomas' month-long pursuit of Donyell Marshall and Jalen Rose has finally reached a point where the Knicks and Raptors are discussing a deal that would send Kurt Thomas and Penny Hardaway to Toronto.

According to a league source, Thomas and Rob Babcock, the Raptors general manager, exchanged phone calls yesterday in an attempt to hammer out a deal that would represent Thomas' first major roster move since he acquired Jamal Crawford from the Bulls in August.

More importantly, the deal would also change the way the Knicks play since Marshall, who would play power forward, is regarded as a perimeter player. The 6-11 Marshall had six 3-pointers in Monday's win over Minnesota and is averaging 10.5 points and 6.8 rebounds in 24.1 minutes.

Why Babcock is so idiot? He's trading his two best players... (excluding Bosh)

Well they definately need to get better, because they SUCK atm (and I'm a Knicks fan :? )
If only NY could dump Tim Thomas in this trade too, I hate him with a passion... :x

Babcock wasn't any smarter when he was making all if Minnesotta's second round draft picks since after the Joe Smith fiasco, it seems like every trade rumour about the Raptors lately have been so stupid. At least with Grunwald we had rumours of us getting good players, Babcock just wants crap. Not that KT is bad, but what do we need him for when we have Bosh, and then Penny?

I'd rather keep Jalen and Donyell who have been playing well.

i still think Toronto should be moved to the U.S and then atleast can compete for real. it wouldnt be so bad if the Raps moved to a city like Buffalo that very close and Fan will still be close to the team but it would be in a U.S city to compete  or just go hired some new kid out of college to be your GM toronto you know you can to better then what you have know. i reallly think toronto has the worst management in the NBA :boohoo: i never though i say that specially seens i think the Clippers have been one of the worst out there when it come to the front office.

Yessie is really American  . First he has arguments with Australians and now wants the Raptors out of Canada.

Why would the Raptors move to the U.S.? I think they're fine over there.

What do u mean compete in Canada?? There is only one team in Canada, RAPS. So i think we should leave the raps in TO cause the fans like the Raps eventhough we are losing all our good players.

yeah raptors are good, i once won a prize for naming raps as the nba team in canada (in the beginning when raptors wasnt so widely known yet as an nba team). was an easy question for nba fan though

what a dumb trade; i hope something stops it from happening like kurt thomas failing his physical or what not

the raptors are lacking offense yet they're bringing two people in that can't really provide that much help in that department

heck if i was babcock i wouldn't pull the trade if it was just donyell marshall for kurt and penny.. why would he trade donyell anyways, the guys a certified beast.. can post up, shoot the 3 and is a work horse on the glass and jalen's a threat off the bench. i don't see why he'd want to fuck up the chemistry now on amidst of a 5 (?) game win streak

Better? Our defense & rebounding are bad enough, this will make it worse. Has Isiah forgotten where he played? Ugh. This is crazy.

Typical Knicks short-sighted management. Instead of rebuilding, it's do whatever you can to sneak into the playoffs. Same ol' sh!t for the past 30 years and still no title.
