well China is starting to buy huge amounts of oil, coal, gas etc thus driving up global prices. Not to mention their GDP increasing at about 10%. At this stage China is 2nd to the US in GDP output, in 30yrs at 10% (this number will eventually lower itself but probably will be positive for the bulk of the time) China will become #1.

also, to add to that, China won't exactly be worried about foreign debt since they export more than they import. They are also spending plenty of money on pipelines through the country and are searching for natural resources.

Of course, their government has to stop being a bunch of tight asses before they can achieve anything.

Matt, that's assuming that the US's ecomony stays exactly where it is for the next 30 years. While possible, it's not likely that that will happen. Recessions generally only last something like 7 years at the most...

If the US's economy improves - which I think it already is - then China will stay right where they are. Oh, and China's growth probably has something to do with the trade aggreement with the US.
