Should we rename the PF position?

Should we rename the PF position?

Postby Fresh8 on Thu Jan 06, 2005 4:24 pm

With so many players coming into the NBA as power forwards who dont usually have much power game and shoot more from outside and stuff like that... should we rename the position??? Or not say those players are power forwards?

Players like Sheed, KG, Dirk just to name a few are rewriting how to play at the 4... bringing versatility rather than power. With Karl Malone retiring very soon... one of the only true PF's in our league today, maybe we may need to change the position? Wat do u guys reakon?

leave it alone and just see those players continue to revolutionize the gameplay like Jordan did.

Interesting, but i think there are still some "bangers" at the 4 spot
Tim Duncan
Jermaine O'neal
Chris Bosh
Brian Grant
Kenyon Martin

etc etc..
Maybe those versatile guys, lamar, kg, dirk should be reffered to as just forwards?

Yeah I'd go with Forwards. Maybe rename Small Forward to something else, I'm sure there's a cooler name they could come up with.

lol thats a good idea...ideally a SF can shoot 3s ( Bird, peja, most SF in the league) and those "fowards" can do it but they play PF.
add Amare to the list of "Bangers"

*cough* Amare *cough*

The name still fits. Even tho KG plays more of a finese game when he goes up against the other bangers in the league he's gonna bang for boards right along with them.

Amare is playing center now, but he's definately one, and Dwight Howard and Okafor are going to be banger players, so we definately don't need to change the name
