O'Neal (Pacers) goes for Monsterscore

Postby Ripper on Wed Jan 05, 2005 12:06 pm

I was checking the pacers-bucks game and saw that 4 minutes into the third quarter O'Neal had 41 points already...It's the start of the fourth quarter now and now he has 47....
Monsterscore in the making....

Dirk probably. Shaq and duncan are too team orientated to care about 50 point games, and webber, well i just cant see him doing it... but I'm usually wrong so watch out for webber getting 58 points next game

Duncan isn't a guy that scores so much, he's way too team oriented, unless his teammates are specifically looking for him, or he just get's a lot of touches in a game he won't have those scoring outbursts. He wins, he doesn't pad stats.

This is called team and player genious....

Remember when Amare scored his 50 point game, who did he play? The Blazers without Theo Ratliff. Randolph is a terrible defender, and he was playing center = strategy.

Jermaine O'neal scores 50, who's he playing? Milwaukee with their weak inside presence. Gadzuric the shot blocker plays 3 minutes, and JO is matched against a much smaller and less athletic Joe Smith, though he's a good defender stood no chance, Zaza "the hack" Pachulia, and Marcus "no defense" Fizer = strategy, I love this game!

Great game by JO though, he had the most FT attempts in a game so far this year, in the first quarter he scored 19 of the Pacers 21 points before he came out, and they were down 22-21. He kept them in the game, and just played great, he also only played 36 minutes.

As I said in the thread about KG's 47, it's nice to "see" these big scoring games, it would be even better to actually see them. I guess I shouldn't complain because unlike a lot of my fellow Aussie basketball fans, I do get to see NBA games live and I've really been enjoying this season, but I'd like to see a couple of contests like these.

You know what'd be great? If Tim Duncan just thought one day, "you know what? i dont care about the team today. I'm gonna get my numbers, screw the team system."
Those fundamentals would probably net him about 60 points.

Next player to get 50? LeBron. In the facemask as well.

Can you not get DirecTV with the NBA package?

Jermaine O'Neal asked his coach to bench him after he purposely missed a shot so he wouldn't break Reggie Miller's record.

I don't agree with that but it is a classy move. But you know what they say, records are meant to be broken.

That definitely is class, but he shouldn't have done that. Like you said, records are meant to be broken, and if Jermaine won't do it, somebody else eventually will.

he is too slow and not nearly as aggressive as shaq. I saw how Shaq played against the knicks- just ate'em up, switched to suns/rockets, and saw mutumbo play much better and ran better than Yao.

Yao is hardly aggresive at all... i've been pissed about it for however long hes been in the league. After he did something to some kiwi in olympics i thought he saw the 'light'... but nothing else happened after that incident.... :(

Unfortunately not, it's not offered here. The pay TV package I have includes a few sports channels but ESPN (Pacific Rim) is the only one that shows NBA games.
