Rebuild the lakers

Postby macbit on Wed Jan 22, 2003 7:24 pm

Hey,

with some friends we discuss the problems about the lakers.
We think there are to old.

Now we have different opinions about what players would trade and what new
players we get.

I think Horry, Fox, Shaw, Murray, are to old. Also the bench is weak

What do you think what new young players need the lakers ?

Horry, Fox, Shaw, and Murray are hard to trade (maybe close to untradable). So the best rebuilding plan for the Lakers is from the draft. Fisher is probably the only player that other teams want, other than Kobe and Shaq.

If you are talking about rebuilding, then the Lakers should trade their two stars for some up-and-coming rising youngsters. But I don't think there's a need for that, they just need to retool.

If the Lakers were to rebuild it would be around Kobe. There's no way they would trade him if they were going to trade Shaq and rebuild.

Shaq will play out his career in LA, and I don't think his career will be very long. Once he retires they will build around Kobe. They have no chance at this time of trading Horry, Fox or Murray and Fisher wouldn't attract much on his current form. They need to get some cap free and chase some decent free agents. Another decent big man, a swingman with some offence and another point guard would do nicely. Devean George is getting better, Kareem Rush is starting to get it and Samaki Walker gives you about 10 boards and 5 fouls. If they don't win it all again this year, they will realise they need to make some changes and add a spark.

ugh...i'd get rid of Samaki Walker...his stats aren't amazingly bad..but honestly how many times have you guys seen him fumble the ball when someone has set him up beautifully under the basket?

I think they just definitely need help at the PF position. Horry should not be traded..I think he's still clutch..and is a very good defender considering he plays out of position at the PF position.

I think the Lakers should really make a run at Pippen next year when he's a free agent and put him at SF replacing Fox. They should also start Rush in place of Fisher to have him alongside Kobe. Hopefully his Rush's D will improve this summer.

laker fans- is the finger over the panic button yet? another loss tonite (to a sub .500 team- the warriors). 4 games out of the last playoff spot as of now i believe.

outside of shaq & bryant, the lakers don't really have a lot of players that have high trade value.

Won't get a lot in return.

I agree, the Lakers should hang on to him. he is slowing down but can still score in patches. Plus how many games has he won for them in the clutch?

I think the Lakers should really make a run at Pippen next year when he's a free agent and put him at SF replacing Fox.

Pippen has said he would like to play under Jackson again, and would love to win another championship. I think the Lakers could also use Tim Hardaway. Sure his knees are screwed but they limit his minutes.

Davis is a FORMER all-star and he only acomplished that once when he was added to the weak East frontcourt due to injuries. If you've ever watched AD play you know he's not an all-star but rather a banger who hapens to have an outside jumpshot at time...

Hey JJcoolL I thought you might find this interesting... excerpts from the rules of the forum, if you knew these existed:
DO NOT use profanity or demean other members in the NLSC community.
DO NOT register more than one account in the forum.

Not that anyone would actually do something about them...

Possible trades. they can make:

1. Walker for Lorenzen Wright
2. Horry for Marcus Fizer
3. Fox + Madsen for Odom

Eddie Jones would do nothing with Kobe there, He is great but they traded him to give more opportunities to Kobe, they need Van Exel back "A PG who is not scared of shooting the ball" at least he can compete against those PG the Kings have, I also think they should give a try to that Dunleavy from GS or Zhi Zhi Wang from the Clips, at least the Lakers can give them more playing time.

I would get rid of B. Shaw, R. Fox, S. Medvedenko, T. Murray, J. Pargo to get new players.

I beg to differ, Jones could give Kobe and Shaq a breather once in awhile without fear of letting up on both the defensive and offensive end. Don't forget that Jones is not only a scoring threat.

I'm not saying Jones wouldn't be great there, hell, I hope the Lakers could have Houston, Jones or Allen with Kobe & Shaq, but you know they play the same position. I don't know if Kobe would be comfortable playing SF, Pippen has been bothering him a lot when they have played Portland, and Jones surely can't play that position. What would you do? Play with 3 Guards?, sure you can but don't think it will work out a lot.

i think lakers need to get rid of madsen, murray, fox, shaw and walker.
all those guys are losers.medvedenko is a good rebounder much better than madsen *sucker*.
and they need a good SF,who is good defender and a all-round player like hedo(on a turkish tv hedo said lakers and other few teams are interested in him since his rookie season),kedrick brown......you know, like this.also pippen may look a good choise but it is not.because how many years will he play?not much then they will have to look for a new guy, too.
also they need a real PF.a good rebounder like troy murphy.he would be a good choise.
and i wanna say that the unsuccess of the lakers this season is old players definitely.they got enough rings so they dont give a damn about a new one.they need young players.they can get a 1-2 undrafted rookie i think.
but lakers is still the favourite of championship.(Phil FACTOR)i still cant believe why phil jackson didnt do anything but i think he is thinking sth.
trade deadline is comin close so they gotta move quick kick that oldies (and sucker madsen)ass and get some fresh guys.
