Thank God they're doing different jerseys. I thought it was cool how they would wear their shooting shirts and warmups for their respective teams and then would wear the same jerseys. Then in 96-97(I think thats the year) they started wearing their own jerseys which was pretty stupid.

Guy(s) who shouldn't be starting: Carter, Ming, Francis

It's been announced on NBA.com, this year's All-Stars are wearing the 80s style All-Star jerseys rather than their individual team jerseys (as they've done 1997-2002).

I like the All Star Jerseys rather than the individual team's. As for the starting line ups, I think Carter REALLY didn't deserve the spot. The rest of the players I felt earned it. If Mike gets selected by the coaches he will probably be put into the Starting line up.
My projected Bench Lineups:
East

Jordan
Paul Pierce
Antoine Walker
Kenyon Martin
Jason Kidd
Brad Miller (This shows how weak The East is inside)
Jamal Mashburn

West:
Shaq
Dirk
Webber
Payton
Finley
Nash
Bibby

I think Artest and Gasol deserve spots, but I just dont think they will make it. Any thoughts? :D

Finally they have gone back to the All Star jerseys. Gotta love the retro look. Only real dissappointments are Carter getting a spot and Ming stealing it from Shaq. Payton probably deserved it, but Francis is playing well. When was the last time two Rockets started in the game? kobe was also leading vote getter ahead of Ming.

Hmm... I think Hakeem And Clyde both started in 96? In 97 Hakeem, Barkley and Drexler were all selected but only Hakeem played because the others were injured. I'm pretty sure it was 96.

Yeah, 1996 was the last time two Rockets started, and that was the situation in 1997.

Was shaq the last Rookie Voted in? I remember Duncan played in 98 as a rook, but was he selected by the coach's? If so, it's somewhat ironic that Yao has "stolen" O'neal's spot, and Yao is a rookie and Shaq was the last rookie to be voted in by the fans....

I think Grant Hill was the last rookie to be voted by the fans (1995).

Lol I forgot about Grant Hill... The only rookie to get the most votes. It's a shame about Grant Hill... I hope he can return for the playoffs :?

I dunno about that, a very good case could be made for Gary Payton.

PPG APG RPG TO Fg% SPG
Payton 21.2 9.3 4.9 2.56 .466 1.61
Francis 22.9 6.0 6.2 4.00 .434 1.54

Actually after looking at the numbers this really isn't that close, no doubt Payton should be the starter if it were done by who's most deserving.

I believe most of the people who voted for Yao, by mistake thought they had to choose the whole Rockets team, that's the only thing that explains Francis being there starting. It's not the Shaq case in the all star, I believe Yao is very popular and even he's not a superstar, the fans wanted to see him playing there. But Francis over Payton, lol. Let's hope the managers have some common sense and don't put K. Cato as the perfect one to be on the bench.

maybe in the olden day all-star games were for the very best... but now its a popularity contest, there are lots of players who deserve to be in it but r not.
think about y Vince is in it, y KG is in the starting and not dirk, y ming not shaq, y francis not GP????

all thses players have all the slick moves that r great in all-star atmosphere. i mean, what would u rather see Dirk jumpers or KG's high flying dunks and aly oops??? would u rather see perice shooting and trying to make good playes of have hope in Vince, coz if he dose play then a tonn of dunks will follow.

same with francis, have u seen the game huston Vs LAL, he made kobe look like a puppy dogg with his cross overs??!!!!

i think we all know that the reason yao was picked was coz of Asians voiting for him...

its just the way it is now days....

and year speaking of rookies in all star game have any1 rememberd MJ????

In the case of KG and Dirk, KG is not only he's acrobatic but he's considered one of the top 3 most dominant in the league at the moment. So no discussion he should be starting. But Francis, I don't think he has any popularity. I mean, if you go for his crossovers, wasn't Marbury the one who made Ming look ridiculous when he made his crossover and Yao felt down?, GP could talk all he wants but that's what makes him the player he is. It's all right, there's no way we can change what the fans did, so I stay with franchise there but I don't think stevie is a popular player like you would say, I mean the only thing is that he's playing with Yao, that's what I meant, those that voted for Yao by mistake took francis there. I'm not saying Francis doesn't deserve to be in the all star but the fans look ridiculous making him the starting PG.

scubliete,

Did you watch the All-Star game last year? Before Yao was in the NBA? Francis started in that one too. He looked awful in that game but he was picked before there was a Yao in Houston...

each team requires 1 center 2 forwards and 2 guards, iverson being a guard takes a guard position regardless if the other guard chosen is point or shooting guard, ben wallace is a forward, which leaves the east with 3 forwards and 2 guards when zydrunas ilguaskas deserves to be the starting center because not only is he a better center than wallace, he also is a better player than wallace

I think Wallace is a better player than Ilgauskas.

Does anyone think Big Z will make the All-Star reserves? I think so, it's either him or Brad Miller.

Yes, Zydrunas should be chosen for the All Stars, he's playing great this year.

In the Case of Wallace, he's going to start I believe because of the votes he got, maybe no center got near his so they decided to get him as a Center.

Well, You are right, I don't think I watched that game, lol. I didn't have cable at that time, but you just said he looked awful there but the fans picked him meaning the same ones did it this time, I agree, lol.

I told you, I accept he's there bcause I'm just one against one million but when I would say who should be there, I'm ok with Ming but not with Francis.
