My Dynasty:

As you read this, keep in mind it is Monday, February 14th (in my dynasty). We are two games away from All Star Weekend

What's happened so far: My team record is 28-26. I've won 6 of my last 8 games, and am currently tied for longest season winning streak at 3 games. About 6 weeks into the season, Steve Nash and Amare Stoudamire got injured in the same game. Both came back, and played regular minutes. After the game we got a message from our team trainer that Nash will have to sit for 9 weeks, and Amare will have to sit for 9 days. It's been tough, but Shawn Marion has really stepped it up in Amare's absence. When Amare was out we began to lose, but he came back 3 games ago, and in each of his first 3 games back hes put up 37, 33, and 31 points. Over the last 5 games Shawn Marion is averaging 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. Marion has taken Nash's role on the team as the main passer.

Trades/FA Pickups: I've only made two trades the entire season. Both were minor. At the beginning of the season I acquired Udonis Haslem for Keon Clark. The second trade was just completed today, in which we acquired Damon Jones and Matt Freije from Miami for Leandrinho Barbosa and Ryan Bowen (FA pickup). There had been trade talks including Jones and Barbosa for quite awhile, and finally the trade was completed. In his first game as a Sun, Damon Jones posted 8 points and 8 assists off the bench. As I said before, I picked up Matt Freije from the FA pool, as well as Tierre Brown. Brown is my starting PG in place of the injured Steve Nash. Damon Jones provides a spark off the bench, while Tierre Brown is just starting to spread the ball and not make mistakes.

Playoff Position: As a team we had to make a playoff push before the All Star Weekend because we were flirting around and below .500 all season. In our division the Sacramento Kings are #1, and the LA Lakers are #2. We are only .5 games back from the Lakers, and 4.5 games back from the Kings. In the Western Conference we are #10, so obviously if the playoffs started today, we would not be included. That's why we've been playing desperately lately, and we've won 5 of our last 7 games. Tonight at 7 PM we play Utah, and on Thursday we play Dallas. Hopefully we will be going into the break 29-25.

All Star Weekend Invitations:The league notified me today that three of my players have been invited to participate in All Star Weekend. Shawn Marion is going to be participating in the dunk contest, Joe Johnson is going to be in the three point contest, and Udonis Haslem will be starting at PF in the rookie challenge.

Game Recaps

Rookie-Sophomore Game

After watching the Sophomores embarass the Rookies, it is clear that last year's draft class was one of the best ever. Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Kirk Hinrich each had stellar performances for the Sophomores. For the Rookies the only one to step it up was fan favorite Ben Gordon. The final score of this one was 107-89.

Denver, Colorado
The game was supposed to be fun and relaxed; a break from the grueling regular season schedule. It was all going well until tipoff. For some reason, the Sophomores had 6 players come out to start. Dwyane Wade and Kirk Hinrich both came out to start at PG. Wade failed to acknoledge that Hinrich had been voted in by the fans as a starter. Words were thrown about, and soon Emeka Okafor came between them and put them in their place. "We are here to have a nice, clean game. Can't we just all get along?" This seemed to help the Sophomores, because Wade and Hinrich quickly looked at each other, smirked, and then began attacking Okafor simultaneously. PLAY BALL!

The game was a hysteria of dunks and slams. At halftime the Sophomores had already gained a 10 point lead, Carmelo leading them with 16 points. In the 3rd quarter Dwyane Wade drove hard to the basket, driving in at Okafor. Emeka raised his dome and headbutted Wade to the ground. The medical staff came rushing out, but Wade was able to limp off the court, nursing a bloody head. Thankfully he would later come back in the 4th quarter, where he would score 11 points. Later in the 4th quarter, Ben Gordon hit 2 consecutive 3's to bring the Rookies within 9, but they never got closer. Lebron James, who was quiet all game, stole the ball on 3 straight possessions. Each steal led to a Lebron earthquaking jam. The final score-107-89, a 18 point victory for the 2nd year players. Dwyane Wade got MVP honors, posting 19 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals.

Phoenix Upsets Detroit

In the first game of the month of March, the Phoenix Suns defeat the best team in the league, the Detroit Pistons. Amare Stoudamire scored 22 and grabbed 13 boards en route to an 84-81 victory.

In the first quarter the Pistons proved why they are worthy to repeat; the score after the 1st quarter was 16-14 for the Pistons. In the 2nd quarter Phoenix came out on fire, Damon Jones running the break like Steve Nash, finding Quentin Richardson twice in a row for the 3. Amare had 14 points in the 2nd quarter. At halftime Phoenix was up 48-40. In the 3rd quarter the Pistons came to play, outscoring the Suns 16-8. That's right. Phoenix only scored 8 points in the entire 3rd quarter. In the 4th Amare came back from his nap and schooled Ben Wallace. Marion also played well, finishing with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists. Joe Johnson had 23 points. After the win, there is a 3 way tie for 8th place in the West. Dallas, Phoenix, and the Lakers all have an identical .509 winning percentage. It now comes down to who wants it more.

League News

12/3/04-The Phoenix Suns trade C Keon Clark to the Miami heat for PF Udonis Haslem. This trade helps Miami because it improves their backup C position from Doleac to Clark, and Keon can also start at PF. The Suns were in lack of a backup PF, as they had Maciej Lampe and Zarko Caparkapa, neither big or strong enough to battle out west. Udonis Haslem is a nice addition, as he adds enery and spark off the bench.

12/21/04-The Phoenix Suns are 17-21 in their first 38 games of the season. Phoenix has catching up to do, because they are 5 games back of Sacramento, and 3 games back of the Lakers. The next few weeks of basketball can make or break any playoff hopes for this squad.

12/29/04-The Phoenix Suns traded Leandro Barbosa and Ryan Bowen for Damon Jones and Matt Freije earlier today. Damon Jones will take Barbosa's role on the team, and many fans don't understand what the point of this trade was. The reason is because what Damon lacks in stealing ability, he makes up for in his great court awareness and passing abilities. With Nash out longterm, Damon Jones will fill the passing void, and he can also heat up from the field at times. In his first game as a Sun, Damon Jones posted 8 points and 8 assists off the bench.

Good start, keep it up (Y)

PS: Be sure of post some images, and nice recaps!

Tue Dec 21, 2004 1:42 pm

thanks :)

sup yessie, yea i kno, the suns r so fun to play wit, plus joe johnson  is my favorite player... im actually putting up pretty realistic numbers right now, almost identical to the real nba #'s... except for nash, i dont use him to score, hes only gettin about 9 ppg, but thats fine cause he gets assists, which is cool

however im scoring less as a total cause the real suns score over 100 per game, while in 8 min quarters i get around 70 on a bad day, but i do get about 90 or more on a great day... which is good

falcon-about those images... for the intro stuff like rosters and league news i will put up real images... then wen i do game recaps ill take screenies... ill hav to c how that works tho cause ill hav to whip out the old digital camera (im playin on xbox). the advantage of this is that if i can find a way to get good pics... then xbox graphics r the bomb

im gonna put up the rest of my lineup

NP!

Sup everyone! I started this dynasty two weeks ago, and couldn't find the motivation to work hard on it and make it worth reading. Now that the All Star Weekend is coming up for me, I thought I would just post what's up in my dynasty so far. Above I added "My Dynasty" and "All Star Weekend", where I put in that info. After All Star Weekend I'm going to update again, and then before playoffs again. Also if I play an amazing game, then I'll do a nice recap of it, like the one I posted (it's an old game but it was amazing!

:P

Hey Arik nice job man so far. what sliders are you using? i know your a good Live player and you flirting with .500 is a shocked to me. can you post the sliders you are using if any. thanks 8-)

Fri Dec 31, 2004 3:15 pm

ah yes yessie, jus as i was going to cry, i realize that i do hav 1 reader! :) funny... wen i started this dynasty it was the first phoenix suns dynasty, and now there are like 5... damn followers

i dunno the exact sliders im using right now, i just tweaked a lil from default. but i can tell u that its come out realistic... wen i look at the MVP candidates and their stats, and also all around player stats... its good. the fact that its hard to lose isnt so much about the sliders, i think its that i try to play realistic. usually i only win big wen i dunk all game, which is cheap and not fun.

some things i remember ill post (its 12:12 AM, tomorro ill take a screeny and post all the sliders)

Gamespeed-50
Fatigue-60
FT difficulty-65
CPU Freestyle-(5 points higher then default, dunno wat that is)
User Freestyle-(10 points lower then default, dunno wat that is)
CPU Shot Block-10
User Shot Block-0
CPU Layup Block-45
User Layup Block-35 or 40 i think

The Quicky

After All Star Break Phoenix goes 1-2. First game back they lose to LA Clippers, a sub .500 team. Second game back was a big game vs. the Mavericks. Mavericks were 1 game ahead of Phoenix in the playoff race, for the final (8th) spot. Phoenix chokes and loses to Dallas, they go 0-3 vs. Dallas for the season. Suns fall 2 games back of 8th place in the West. Next game Phoenix beats Boston by 18, Amare Stoudamire notches 30 points, 20 rebounds. Phoenix ends the month of February 29-28. Peja Stojakovic and Shaquille O'neal win West and East player of the month. Robert Swift and Emeka Okafor win West and East rookie of the month. Phoenix has 3 days off then plays the 45-9 Pistons. Tough schedule coming up for Phoenix, and they have to make playoff run. Steve Nash to return in two weeks. Suns scouts scout 5 players in February, 2 SG's, 1 PG, 2 C. Phoenix is well off in each position, so scouts just trying to find young athletes with good potential. That's the quicky update!

Sat Jan 22, 2005 3:02 pm

ok i kno i havent posted and im not updating this dynasty consistently at all, but im in a very interesting situation and i jus had to get it out :P

The Phoenix Suns are 38-35, and there are only 8 games left in the entire season. The Suns are 18 games back of the Spurs in the Western Conference, and 1.5 games back of the 8th, and final, playoff spot. The Lakers are in the 8th spot at 16.5 games back, and the Hornets are in the 9th spot at 17 games back. Phoenix has a very good chance to trip into the playoffs, because they play the Lakers twice, and the Hornets once out of the last 8 games. All 3 of these games MUST be won in order for the Suns to have a chance... which I think is pretty exciting, and is gonna be so fun to play!!! I'm going to update those 3 games, which will probably be played sometimes tomorrow or Sunday. The other 5 games are also important, but those 3 are the deciding factors.

I just wanted to let you all in on whats happening in my dynasty, cause its pretty damn interesting right now, at least for me playing it :D .

O yea, and I'll be playin without Amare cause he got injured in the last game vs. Houston and is out for 3 weeks, which sucks. He'll be ready for the playoffs tho  , so all we gotta do is get there without him. shawn marion, steve nash, and joe johnson will lead the way. check back here later tomorro or sunday for the recaps, ill try to make them good
