Did Vince Tip Sonics?

Three members of the Seattle SuperSonics say they believe Carter intentionally tipped off a play during the final minute of the Raptors’ 101-94 loss to the Sonics in Toronto.

With 29 seconds remaining in that game and the Sonics leading 97-90, the Raptors called a timeout. After returning to the court, Carter lined up along the edge of the key. He was facing the Sonics’ bench with his hands on his knees. According to a member of the Sonics, before the play began, Carter said directly to the Seattle bench, “It’s a flare. It’s a flare.” Two other members of the Sonics confirmed that Carter told the Sonics bench that the Raptors were running the flare play.

The Raptors, inbounding the ball above the Sonics bench, then ran a flare play for Carter.

In the play, which Sonics scouts had observed was a common go-to play for the Raptors, Carter worked his way up the key on the near side as Sonics guard Ray Allen followed. At the elbow on the near side, Raptors forward Matt Bonner set a screen on Allen for Carter, who then flared toward the opposite corner. The pass from Morris Petersen was too long for Carter to handle easily, and, unable to make a clean shot attempt, he passed the ball to Bonner, who hit a 22-foot shot from the top of the key.

I believe we've reached a new low here...

Carter is an ass but still he is my favourite player :D I heard that story today too but its said to belive that Carter was using that as a decoy so he can run another play.

Some players use that kind of stuff to get into their opponents head. I remember that Dennis Rodman was yelling out a fake play in a game once and the Bulls ran something completely opposite.

First of all, they were saying he said it while standing on the sideline yet Ray Allen who was right next to him didn't hear it, but Reggie Evans on the bench did, okay.

Why would this come out now? It's from the Seattle media, so it's not like they're trying to protect Carter's trade value or something, it would make sense from our media, but took them a while didn't it?

They later said Carter screamed to the Sonics bench that it was a flare right before MoPete imbounded the ball to him, UH OH! he told the bench

He then dished to ball to Bonner for a jumper that was good. So he screamed it to the bench, and it could also have been an act of gloating or him trying to mislead the Sonics, the pieces of the puzzle just don't fit in this one.

They asked Ray and he said Reggie was one of the people talking about it, then Reggie says he doesn't want to talk about it?

Some members of the Raptors respond

Members of the Toronto Raptors have scoffed at a report that Vince Carter tipped off the opposition to a play late in a game last month.
"I think that's a lie," Raptors guard Jalen Rose said following Toronto's 110-99 win over the New Jersey Nets on Sunday. "To be honest it's just so ironic that a statement like that happens to come out a day after the guy gets traded.

"The timing of this is the worst it could be."
-----------
"Telling the other team a play, that's ridiculous," said Raptors forward Chris Bosh. "I refuse to believe that, how silly is that?

"I don't think any player in the NBA would do that, give the other team any kind of advantage in a game-winning situation. That's not professional at all."
---------
Bosh said the report is more a case of people kicking Carter when he's down.

"People are kind of gunning for him, it's unfortunate for him," said Bosh. "I think he just needs to stay positive."
