i dont understand one thing, can a plyer play in rookie challenge and all-star as well, coz it seasm that yao will be starting all-star and his picked for the rookie,
i read a book about kobe called ,"the game" and it said that in his second year he was picked fo the all star starter and he couldn't play in the rookie game??!!

No. If a player is picked for both the Rookie game and All Star game he must give up his spot in the Rookie game and play in the All Star. So Yao will only be playing in the AllStar game.

If a player is selected to the All-Star game, he cannot participate in the Rookie game. However, that fact about Kobe can't be true, as back in 1998 the rookie game was still East Rookies vs West Rookies, and since Kobe was in his second season, would not have been eligible for selection anyway.

no, i think it was already rookie vs 1st year players and he was 1st year!!

I can assure you the NBA didn't adopt the Rookies vs Sophomores until 2000, due to the lockout in 1999 (which meant there was no All-Star game). Up until 1998, it was East Rookies vs West Rookies.

This Zydrunas Ilgauskas has been really good this season, I believe he deserves to participate in the all star game. Didn't know his numbers have been so great, Now that the east doesn't have a real Center to represent them, I think they should let Zydrunas take that charge.
