One of the solutions to fast gameplay and high scores in NBA Live 2003 is to turn the quarter length down, as not to allow the game to go long enough to yield unrealistic stats. The only problem for us reality junkies is that the minutes per game averages are unrealistic.

Assuming that NBA Live 2004 is again too fast for our liking, I suggest that NBA Live take a page out FIFA's book, and feature faster game clock settings, that is, you can set it so that the clock will still count down from 90 minutes, but time will elapse more quickly. Hence, you could play a 48 minute game in NBA Live, with players registering realistic minutes per game averages, while the game runs fast enough to avoid the high scores. This would also be ideal for people who would like to see realistic mpg but don't have time to play 12 minute quarters.

Of course, the best solution would be to slow the gameplay down, but I still think this would be an interesting idea.

That's quite a good suggestion... BUT, have you thought about what would happen if the game were to be decided in the final seconds? I mean, how will the game go? Would we want a more realistic countdown rather than what you had suggested? :D

and what about the 24 sec clock ? the game may look like a big run a gun match.

Those are things that I did actually consider after further thought. I guess they'd be more useful for people who want to play 48 minutes without playing 48 minutes, rather than being used as a means of the user slowing the game down by speeding up the clock. Somewhat of an oxymoron I know. :wink:

At the end of the day, the gameplay itself is what will have to be slowed down. But for quick human vs human games, I'd say my idea could still be put to use. :)

It can be done like in NHL 2003, when only the final minute is in real time

another solution can be we could play 8 min games then at the end of the season we recalculate only the min stats for our team...

It's still not 48 minutes. Regardless of what we do with the time, gamers like me will still not be satisfied with unrealistic time clock.

I've downloaded NLSC's patch and used the tweaked rosters. I'm quite satisfied with the adjustments. Quite, but not there yet. The game went over 100 points for both teams. If only the patchers can make the field goals a tad lower still.

(Or maybe yet, I still don't know how to play.) :wink:

Despite the fact I humbly think that an option to change clock speed would be a nice idea (:wink:) I too would like to see a realistic game played with a real clock.

OK ... i think it is not a good idea for a basketball game to make the time run faster like in fifa game.
Secondly. U can't make the game to go slower. How can u do that? Lower players speed? FG? --- no. When u lower the speed, then they jst move like in slowmotion + it doesen't stop u from playng fast game and 25% FG is not realistic neither. That is the style of your gamepley. How u play the game ... its all in your style. But the gameplay is the key ... the speed of the game should be controlled like so that the fast and unrealistic baskets just don't go inside ... only when u have played your man open. The defence must be smart but not so much in your face all the time.
The fatigue should be more sensitive too. When u rund 2-3 fastbrakes a row --- then there should be a substitution or the player loses 50% of hes skills.
Basicly the point is u can't really make tweaks for time. It's all in gameplay and EA must work on this very hard. And they should learn it from insidedrive ... they got the game (unfortunately not for PC:(

Yes, we all realise that tweaking the gameplay itself is what will slow the game down, I said so in my first post in this thread.

At the end of the day, the gameplay itself is what will have to be slowed down
