I'm in 10th grade right now. I tried out for my team beginning of the year but I got cut. That was pretty bad for me, but soon after I just happened to be reading something about Clyde Drexler, and it said he was cut from his team in the 10th grade also (though he was 6'5", I'm 6'1"). So that gives me hope and I've been working hard since then to make the summer tryouts.

Yeah I just got cut, I thought I made the team but the coach said at the practice that he needed to make 4 more cuts, and I was one of them. I am still only 12 though, so I have a lot of time to work on my skills (specifically jumpshots and freethrows). I started taking 200 shots a day at the beginning of the school year after reading a biography about MJ. By next year my shot will (hopefully) be better.

I think every basketball playing kid has the dream to make it to the NBA one day, but only like 0,001% actually does, but it's always good to have a dream...

well my bigger dream is to make my band famous (y), like move to LA and get a big record deal n get a hot wife n bring my parents there and make a massive house for my parents, my bro and all my best palz (6 prolly) to come and live with me

but yeh I wouldnt ever make it to the NBA cause, im from a unknown island, im 5"4, 95 lbs....and umm not talented.

I played b-ball for my HS team, I skipped my last 2 years of HS to jump into college (long story). I was backup PG, I sucked at shooting(weak shoulders) and well didnt get alot of love from the coach (politics etc)...problem was I had the size of a point guard but played like a pure defensive power forward, so it kinda screwed me up.

Oh well good luck to anyone here who has talent and dreams of making it to the NBA (y)

I salute the talented

...you should have asked your coach when you found out you were cut. the only thing I can tell you without seeing you play is find your biggest weakness and work until it becomes one of your strengths. Wash, rinse, repeat.

well if you got cut from your bball team and you wanna get on theres only one thing to do......breaks someone's leg that is on the team. Sure you could practice and get better and get on the team but that's too much effort. If you want to be a starter then you have a lot of legs to break

if i had ever bothered to get in shape, i think i actually could have been quite good. my range is amazing, i made 10/15 shots from midcourt (a high school court)- and can shoot 3's fairly consistently, and the few times that i've actually made it a habit to play every day, i got pretty good at the fundamentals. too bad i probably don't have the motivation to get in shape enough (i'm not obese or anything, just not athletic)

If you play point guard, learning to drive really helps your game (drive as in driving a car), i dunno why... but i didn't used to be so aware when I ran the point, but ever since I started driving (car) it seems that being aware of everything thats happening on the road seems to help your awareness of everything thats happening on the court when you play.
Maybe its just me... but... its worth a shot

haha, i never thought of it that way. Well, i don't know if it works because i don't pay attention on the roads.....all attention is focused on the stereo and eye candy :D
