This was absolutely disgraceful. Since I had the "privilege" to watch this game, I got to see the whole shameful debacle.
Ron Artest's foul was perhaps a little harder than it needed to be given they were already looking at taking home the victory and this is just one game early in the regular season. But Ben Wallace's overreaction was simply unacceptable and showed absolutely no class. What followed was a complete joke, an utter disgrace to NBA basketball.
Players charging into the stands, Stephen Jackson throwing a punch which seemed to be aimed at a fan, officials and coaches basically having to hold everyone back...and then on top of that, fans pelting players with whatever they have to throw after their own player stepped out of line. I mean no offense to any Pistons fans and I'm not about to make a broad generalisation, but there were some people in the crowd (like the guy who ran onto the court) who should be ashamed of themselves. Another case of a few people (players included) ruining it for everyone else.
The NBA has been a bit silly with fines and legislation lately (Vince Carter's iPod, Mark Cuban), but I want to see them throw the book at a few people here. I'm all for intense rivalries, but this just isn't done. For once, I have to agree with Bill Walton and co. This was just shameful.
(And on a lighter note, I also have to quote Comic Book Guy: "There's no emoticon for what I'm feeling!"
