Carter, Rose to Portland

I think the trade is bad for Toronto if they include Jalen Rose with it. I dont think Derek Anderson is a better player then Jalen Rose but I do know that he is very inconsistant. But like Jae. said, if he wants he can be a very good player. Getting rid of Carter will probably be a good thing basketball wise, Carter unfortunatly never could live up to his full potential and wont get any better then he was before the injuries or even the last 2 years. He wont lead the team to the promised land any time soon so it would be better to start all over with the money they might get once Reef becomes a Free Agent and some good lottery draft picks if there are any left. I think this trade will be good for both teams if you exclude Jalen Rose. (Y)

When a player doesn't want to play for your team you may as well trade him. Carter's future isn't in toronto anymore he made that clear kind of like Mcgrady in orlando.
They need to get a good deal that's all and that one is just stupid for the reasons above but there is no point keeping a player that does't want to play for your team anymore even if it's Carter (no motivation...etc).

Carter, despite his injuries, is marketable. People come in to watch him. I think the hope is still there that he'll be back, people still expect him to soar as he used to. Sooner or later he'll be back, I have that much faith left. He'll surely be in the All Star game.

Abdur-Rahim isn't a franchise player, Vince is. Who cares if Shareef has a last year contract? They need people to come watch, right? Not alot of people want to watch Shareef otherwise Atlanta wouldn't have traded him. Ask yourself, who would you rather watch, Shareef or Vince? Says enough.

About playing Shareef at the C postion, it's possible but knowing Shareef he'd play a few games at C & then begin to whine about it not being his position. Everything's possible, doesn't mean he'll like doing it though.

About him being in the last year of his contract, what good is it for Toronto? They'll have a load of money and not alot of people to spend it on. I can only think of Canadians that would like to play there, Nash is off the market which leaves Magloire. I don't think he's the ideal person to go after in the offseason if you're letting Vince walk off. Other big named players would like to stay in the States as much as possible.

Besides, having money doesn't mean you'll land the player. See: Clippers.

That trade blows & I highly doubt it'll happen. Unless Babcock (that is the GM, right?) has gone insane.

Magloire isn't an FA himself, so it leaves no one for the Raptors in terms of players that would really want to come here.

Our biggest acquisition was Rafer who had already played here, apart from that we'd always re-signed our own players.

Even better, then who in heavens name do they intend to sign with the money they will get when Shareef's contract comes off the books?

I really don't see how they would benefit from this deal, people gave the "they'll have Shareef's contract which expires", so? What do they do with the money? That's scrapped.

Shareef will attract more people to Air Canada stadium? Nah, that isn't happening.

What else could they want? I hope they aren't desperate to get rid of Carter just to land the first pick. That would suck.

heck carmello anthony and kenyon martin for jalen rose and vince carter and someone else would be more fair then this junk deal of course denver would never do that cuz they like those two players too much to trade them.

a trade like this is always good to point at when someone says the trade you made in your dynasty is not realistic lol. vince carters popularity alone could have got the raptors a much better deal if they pulled the trigger in the offseason. also there are still unhappy players out there who they should go after instead. call up the kings and tell them you wanna get webber and rose back together again and give them carter as a bonus for peja and salary filler.

Maybe the Raptors are trying to get Shareef's expiring contract then trade it before the deadline for some young players and draft picks or something to a team that needs cap room. Maybe to the Hornets for Magloire?

But still, why would they go through all of that, to aqcuire Magloire? Sure, he's a good player and all, but he's no Vince.

If they did have that in mind, they'd be practically giving up Vince & Rose for [Shareef] for Magloire & newbies. Doesn't make sense business wise.

The Kings aren't looking to trade Webber or Peja what so ever. And I doubt they would make a trade like that, it would benefit Toronto more than anything.

if Reef gets back to his 20-10 days it maybe worth it specially if VC goes Ralph Sampson and becomes a possible megastar gone injury star....

but I doubt reef's gonna be 20-10 and VC is gonna be a Ralph Sampson.....hmm I dunno I think B Diddy for VC may make sense

Since it seems NVE won't be part of the deal if it goes through, the Blazers are clearly getting the better end of this deal in my mind. They get rid of Shareef thus sorting out the frontcourt confusion, and replace Derek Anderson with a superior swingman.

In terms of talent the Raptors aren't really getting robbed blind, but they now take on the problem the Blazers currently face: two talented power forwards each worthy of being the starter, only one power forward spot on the floor and neither really suited to small forward or a lesser role. On the plus side, they do get rid of Rose who would become the Blazers' headache, but they do sacrifice some offense.

From Toronto's point of view, it really is a trade for the sake of allowing an unhappy star to move on and ridding themselves of a player with a bad reputation. Portland on the other hand is sorting out their rotation and beefing up their backcourt, which isn't too bad to begin with. Portland's motives are a little more clear-headed in terms of basketball.

i heard toronto's not even selling out right now? if this is true, then get rid of carter.

carter's not playing well for whatever reason and mitchell has the balls to sit his ass and the team has come through sometimes w/o him.

other then his versatility on offense to play 3 positions and being a solid free throw shooter, what else makes him a player of good value? he does not play defense. doesn't get out on the break as much as he used to. turnover prone. shoots poorly from the field.

i think rose's value is somewhat overrated here. this guy is making ~14 mil this yr, is still owed over 31 mil the next two yrs, and is the on the wrong side of the age 30. this kills rose's value, which is why you make the team trading for carter take rose and his contract too

ford has come up with new orleans/toronto trade, but of course it's speculation, and well it's chad ford. but imo new orleans is the team they should target for a carter trade.

If I could get Baron Davis or Jamaal Magloire for Carter, I would do it in a heartbeat. But I don't think NO is gonna do that. They would artehr get rid of Mashburn's contract, considering he may never play again.

if they want Jamaal Magloire why not just trade with the Hornets? Maybe not now, but if they don't have any wins by the end of December they might just want to trade for the hell of it lol
