That is really dumb...If the coach lets him do it then obviously only the league thinks of such stupid things.
Is he really hurting anybody by listening to music while warming up?
There is even music playing during games, that is something that should be removed, not something stupid like this...

I wonder if they told Timmy Duncan the same?
Wed Nov 17, 2004 8:37 am
hmm... I think its something to do with players aren't allowed wearing anything with logos(other than NBA logos) on it other than shoes when they are on the court.
PLAYER/TEAM CONDUCT AND DRESS
(5) The only article bearing a commercial 'logo' which can be worn by players is their shoes.
Well, maybe he's listening to Ron Artest's songs, so they don't let him listen to the iPod

Hopefully now he won't suck. If he keeps playing like this, there's no way we can trade him.

I don't know what you really meant by that, but that's the whole point of the headbands (it has the nba logo on it) and you are allowed to wear stuff with the nba logo on it.

so what happens if he planted an NBA sticker on his ipod, would it be okay then? this is pretty ridiculous, he's using it for his personal use, its not like he's promoting it or trying to sell it or what not. if that's the case then they should also start banning:
- shoes
- armbands/wristbands/legbands
- knee braces
- rip hamiltons mask

The rule doesn't state that it's ok to sport the NBA logo, it just says "The only article bearing a commercial 'logo' which can be worn by players is their shoes." so doesnt that mean the headbands are a violation, considering that the nba logo is a commercial logo and isnt on the shoe?

I remember Chris Gatling had a run-in with the league some years back because he wore a headband that displayed his number. Just his number, no other logos or anything. This is another example of the NBA at its most ridiculous.

really? from what i've seen kobe's legbands have nothing on them.. and t-mac's stockings has his logo only.. i know headbands they have logos, im not sure about those 3 though, but i stand corrected
Wed Nov 17, 2004 7:13 pm
yeah i remember that Gatling thing haha
well the NBA logo is acceptable for headbands.....i mean, if you ban all items with the NBA logo then everyone would have to play naked

I bet if Carter will do it again, then we will see Mr David Stern riding in his new Benz

But the Mercedes logo will be replaced by a NBA one.
And not all accesoires besides headbands have a NBA logo on them, but following the rules, theu should. Look at this:
-
Compression shorts
-
Wristsbands
-
Armsleeves

If thats the case then its probably cos Vince is listening to Ron Artest's rap album, which was illegally downloaded off Kazaa or WinMX or something.

I was just watching Court Surfing (Canadian show ob the score where they switch between whatever games are happening then) and it was on the Phoenix-New Orleans game. It was the FSN Arizona commentators and they ripped Vince for listening to music.

They said if he needs to get ready for the game he should talk to his teammates. I wonder how much $ they got from D. Stern.
Thu Nov 18, 2004 12:45 pm
well actually i agree......in the pre game shoot around you should be talking with your teammates and getting ready for the game. In the locker room it's alrite for everyone to prepare how they want
Playing music in the pre game shootaround isolates you from your team.
Thu Nov 18, 2004 12:56 pm
You're joking, right?
A pre-game shootaround where you work on your individual skills and warmup isn't the time when you're getting ready for the game. It's just a time for jumpers and lay-ups. They aren't running plays and drills that require any communication whatsoever.

Shouldn't it be the coaches decision? Why does it concern the league of how a coach lets his team do things.

The league probably just doesn't want Vince to be "advertising" for apple.
