It looks like it is official. But who is going to substitute Ming? He is not supposed to participate in that game if he is going to be in the Main All Stars Game.

I'm actually excited to see this game. In past years they didn't always put what seemed like the best players from each draft onto the teams. This year they have...

Rookies

C Yao
PF Stoudemire
SF Gooden
SG Wagner
PG J. Williams

C Hilario
PF Boozer
SF Butler
SG Giricek
______________________

Sophomores

C Murphy
PF Gasol
SF Jefferson
SG Richardson
PG Tinsley

C Chandler
PF Kirilenko
SG Arenas
PG Parker

It looks like a win for the rooks but that extra year in the league always makes a difference. Sophs have some some high flyers and a great set-up man in Tinsley so I'll be taping this one.

Actually, I believe the win is going to be for the rookies team. Stodemire & The Beast Nene will have fun making it their way against the Sophomore team.

Good lineups indeed this year. Right now I'd pick the Rookies to win, but chances are they won't have Ming, who would certainly give them a tremendous advantage.

I feel happy for Nenê... He's kicking some ass this season... I didn't have high expectations for him... He surely shattered all them.

I'm also going with a win for the Rookies.

I think they will probably start Nene. The Rooks will be too physical for the Sophomores then.

I know Clinton, but I meant in the team, who will play for him, they are supposed to add someone as Ming is not going to be there.

a great set-up man in Tinsley

Who will probably set the rookie challenge record for turnovers...

I nominate Qyntel Woods for Yao's spot, because it'd be nice to see him play. Mehmet Okur and Marko Jaric too.

A veteran journeyman centre who has spent the last few seasons with the Clippers. Started early in his career, but has spent most of his career as either a backup or second backup at centre.

Yeah it would. He doesn't get the minutes he deserves on the Blazers. I thought that he could be ROTY before he was drafted by Portland. Scouts compared him to McGrady, and it would be nice to see him play in the game and show off his skills.

Just read an article on Jerry Stackhouse's injury at WashingtonPost.com, which included some footnotes from around the NBA. Apparently both Kwame Brown and Brendon Haywood feel slighted having been passed over in selections for the Sophomore team. Haywood commented "There's one guy there I'm pretty skeptical of" and went on to say "Everybody deserves to be on there, except for maybe one guy." The player to which he was referring is, as far as most people are concerned, Tyson Chandler. Interesting, given that Chandler has superior statistics to both Haywood and Brown, in fewer minutes.

Spurs guard Ginobili in 2003 Rookie Challenge
New York, NY (Sports Network) - San Antonio Spurs guard Emanuel Ginobili has been added to the rookie roster for the 2003 Rookie Challenge, to be played Saturday, February 8 at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

Ginobili will replace Houston Rockets center Yao Ming on the roster. Yao will start in the All-Star Game on February 9.

The 6-6 Ginobili played the previous four seasons in the Italian League. He was originally drafted by the Spurs with the 57th pick of the 1999 NBA Draft.
