 KG and Duncan are always the All-Star starting forwards, and that's not by popularity, that's by how good they are.

Ya, but he has a point though. There are lots of players that don't make the All-Star game despite having a great season because there is one guy at their position who is more popular.

That's why I really like the idea of coaches voting because the coaches really do know who deserves it.

you could look at it one of two ways

#1- "STARS"=popular players
or
#2- "STARS"=the players who have performed the best

they need to have it one way or the other- mixing the two makes no sense. the fans shouldn't vote. at the very best, the fans could vote, and whoever won by the fans' voting in each position, would get ONE vote. kind of like our electoral system (which sucks for poilitics, but would be good for allstar voting)

They should do it like they did that 'best championship team ever' thing on nba.com. They could have 31 votes in total. All thirty coaches vote for the players they want, then have the fans vote and count them up and use it as 1 vote. We wouldn't have had Alonzo Mourning runner-up to Ben last year that way.

I really had no idea what you meant. You didn't even mention coaches when you said one vote.

that's a great idea.....or perhaps the coaches vote to pick 12 players and then the fans vote starters from those 12 players. This way no "Mourning" votes and fans get to choose the starters which would also eliminate coaches favouring their own players

Coaches vote for the bench, coaches don't vote on popularity, the populariy part is only with the starters.
