It is a shame he got hurt in the biggest game.

Did you see that a website had the game 7 results with the Thunder winning even before the game had been played and also that the Thunder had open top buses painted with 2025 champions on them before the game was played.

Part of me things some of the nba is rigged especially after the Mavs dumbest trade ever of Luka to land the number one draft pick just like when the Pelicans traded AD to then get the number one pick

For me, the only memorable thing about the Finals was Haliburton going down. That robbed us of a possible classic Game 7.

It was a bummer. I tuned in for parts of the Finals and liked it well enough, but Game 7 definitely ended up being anti-climactic after Haliburton went down.

He is not the first superstar but this is the first time I saw a player traded in their peak and possibly at a high point that could get even higher.

when Iverson got traded in 2007 it was certain that Sixers were done with him and couldn't do it anymore. Both sides wanted to move on, it was a question of what would his next team be.

when Gasol got traded in 2008, Grizzlies reached a ceiling and lost lots of key players and became a bottom feeder. They had to rebuild.

LeBron signed with Miami, it wasn't a big deal in terms of fans losing engagement - it excited the entire league and we had a wonderful 2010-11 season. He had a reason - he wanted to win a championship. He won!

KD signed with Golden State and we saw a dynasty. He got his ring as well.

You can justify almost all of the star trades but not this one. I still can't believe he is not a Maverick anymore. As someone who saw him at Real Madrid 8 years ago (whew), I saw a superstar. Dude played like a 32 yo Chris Paul at age 17. Everyone at that game, saw a top 5 player in worldwide was coming.

Dude is one of the top 3 players of the world (Jokic, Giannis, Luka).

Conspiracy theories terrified me even more. Some say Adelsons want to move the team to Vegas to have the team in a casino-arena structure so they are following through John Fisher/Mark Davis route, ran the team to ground and infuriate fans. I say that LeBron and co will be granted Dallas Mavericks 2.0 as Adelsons will get the Vegas expansion, and first player Mavs 2.0 will sign, is going to be Luka.

If so... as someone who follows the league since 2005, following the forum since 2006, spamming the forum since 2009/10... NBA doesn't mean as much as it used to me anymore. Such a disappointing transaction.if you want it right away. I feel the same way Luka’s trade shook the NBA landscape. It’s rare to see a star move at his peak without a clear reason. Hope the future brings clarity and success for him and the Mavericks.

Personally I looked at the league a little differently after the mavs traded Luka then they beat the odds and win the draft lottery to get Flagg, suspicious? Maybe but only because the Pelicans traded AD to The Lakers in his prime and hmmm yeah the Pelicans won the draft lottery that same year.

You do wonder, sometimes. Absent of hard evidence, I'm not convinced that the league is totally rigged, but I do believe that there are certain politics behind the scenes, not to mention agreements and deals being made that aren't necessarily in good faith or totally above board.

Yeah i agree i dont think its totally rigged but the fact that they do the draft lottery behind closed doors doesn't help.

The lack of transparency doesn't help, but the lottery is overseen by an institution that's larger than the NBA and there have been plenty of uncontroversial results (and results that are undesirable from a marketing perspective), so I'm not totally convinced of that either. I can't deny that there have been some iffy and rather convenient results though, so the secrecy does invite speculation.
