Editing Arenas in Paint.net goes black

Mon Sep 30, 2024 3:50 am

I am able to edit/create courts and they show up how I created them. However, when I edit something like championship banners with the same paint.net settings, the arena is blacked out. Can someone assist with how to properly edit arena files using paint.net or what is another alternative (better or equal to paint.net). Is there separate setting?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Look for each texture name in level.scne
The scne file specify the format of the dds file.
Save your dds at this format, or change the format in the scne file according your dds saving options

Save the textures as dds BC7.

For textures in the 'arena" you have to save as 'BC1". For courts, you must save as "BC7". Thanks for your input as well. Ill be uploading soon!

How do you open or edit a .scne file? I haven't been able to figure that out.

Notepad++

Also if you use nvidia texture exporter you can open the originaldds and check the format in there

This is not 100% correct. For courts, yes, you save as "BC7". For some textures in the arena file, you save as "BC1", but MOST of the textures in the arena file are actually saved as "BC7" and quite a few are saved as some special kind of "BC6" that paint.net cannot save correctly. GIMP can't even open those. As Sticky-Fingers said, you have to look in the Levels.SCNE file for whatever texture you are editing to see what format it needs to be saved as, otherwise you will get the black arena. I learned this because I am editing arenas for a retro style look and editing NBA arenas that the WNBA use because those ladies don't get any love from 2K or even the modding community.

Or you could do what I said without having to trawl through the scne files

hi mate. do you have any idea about the issue posted on here https://forums.nba-live.com/viewtopic.php?f=287&t=115741&p=2094114#p2094114
I am changing the location of some items in arena in blender and when I get into game some of them not visible in different angles.
