::: Sit's 56 K friendly LAKERS DYNASTY :::

I have come to the conclusion that I should use my favourite team and my favourite player's team (Check out the cliche), the Los Angeles Lakers.

Since I don't have too much time on my hands because exams are in 3 weeks and I got 5-7 assesment pieces due in the following two weeks, I'll prob try and keep my dynasty going during this time by playing only a few games. And after next holidays, I'll also keep my dyansty going by doing the following.

1. Play all important games (ie. Playoffs), All-star weekend and games which should be interesting (eg. Ray Allen vs. Kobe Dec 14 and Shaq vs. Kobe Dec 25)

2. I will play alot of 4th quarters and only hop into games where my team is anywhere in between of up by 10 or down by 10, which means that there will be a lot of simmed games so that I can get through the season

3. Game Recaps will be posted and I'll try and get a few screenshots but not too many so that this thread is 56K friendly. I'll try and get people to keep reading about my dynasty with my writing.

I'll also be following these rules when I play Live:

1. Not do any trades that haeavily favour me.

2. Don't trade Jumaine Jones, Vlade, Chris Mihm or anyone recieved in the Shaq trade.

3. Don't always give the ball to Kobe unless I have to.

And my dynsaty settings will be like this:

LAKERS APPOINT NEW GM

Los Angeles, 31 Oct - The Los Angeles Lakers, the 'Yankees of Basketball' as Lamar Odom has stated, appointed a new General Manager yesterday. Former GM Mitch Kupchak was fired last week after a controversial Summer in the city of the Angels.

The Lakers' managment had sent shockwaves through the league after making many moves during the offseason of 2004. The havoc started with star guard, Kobe Bryant opting out of the final year of his contract and in a bid to secure his return, the Laker's former GM made many questionable decisions.

After cutting ties with the Lakers' coach of the new era, Phil Jackson who led the team to their three-peat success, the Lakers then went to great lengths to search and find a coach that Kobe liked. They were unsuccessful in signing 'Coach K' of Duke College and succeeded in siging Rudy Tomjanovich, a player's favourite around the League. However, this wasn't enough to satisfy the All-star guard and Kupchak went to even greater lengths to gain Kobe's approval. He traded the League's most dominant player in Shaquille O'neal for an all-star and two role players in return. This was the move that sent ripples through the NBA's fanbase and analysts.

Los Angeles has been under scrutiny for the past two months and have closed out a 6-2 campaign in preseason action. But the allegations and bad coverage of the team got to GM Jerry Buss who is also at the center of all of the complaints.

"I am tired of being accused of helping satisfy Mr Kobe Bryant. I understand he is a character in the League who is good to talk about but anything about our orginisation sucking up to him is nonsense," Buss told media yesterday, "That is why we have appointed a new GM for our team."

Will Sit from Australia has been given the reins of the Lakers' front office and personally he believes he can help the team succeed. "I know that GM Mitch (Kupchak) didn't succeed and had criticism from the media about himself and the club. I think I can help bring back the Laker's old reputation of being a great basketball club." When asked about his opinion of the Lakers' actions in settleing Kobe and Shaq's 'feuds' he said, "I really believe that the management could have done so much more to settle the dispute. You can't blame Kupchak and Jackson though because the fact that both of them (Kobe and Shaq) arguing in the first place is ridiculous anyway."

And when asked about the possibility of bringing Shaq back to LA, "Look, I favour Kobe over Shaq which means I can't give anyone for Shaq. So I don't see it in the near future but it is possible. Providing that he would want to be back."

LAKERS FALL SHORT IN OPENER

Denver Nuggets 122 @ Los Angeles Lakers 120

Los Angeles, Nov 3 - The Los Angeles Lakers nearly created a shock win over the Denver Nuggets last night as they fell short in an amazing 47 point team effort in the fourth quarter. Kareem Rush came off the bench to score his 18 points (8/13 FG) and recorded 3 steals in 9 minutes of court time in the final period. Lamar Odom was the other main contributor in the fourth quater scoring 12 of his 26 points in the last 9 minutes of the game.

The Lakers were led by Lamar Odom's 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists on 12 for 18 shooting and Kobe Bryant's 19 points in a foul-plagued game that saw Bryant foul out. However, the exit of Bryant saw the entrance of Kareem Rush who brang energy to the game to lead a huge run against the Nuggets that nearly led to an unlikely Los Angeles win in front of the dissapointed homecrowd.

Denver was led by Andre Miller's 21 points and 5 assists. Carmelo Anthony scored 20 points and Kenyon Martin had 17 points and 10 rebounds to spearhead a balanced attack. Rodney White, Earl Boykins and Dermarr Johnson each chipped in 9, 12, 10 points respectively off the bench.

The squad came up very short when Rush's layup cut the margin to three, Brain grant had to foul. Andre miller went to the line and missed his first shot. However, hearts of the fans were broken as Kareem Rush couldn't convert a mid range jumper and even though Stantislav Medvedenko made two free throws, the game was lost.

The Lakers came into the new season with great anticipation and attempted to learn their new offensive and defensive sets early in the first quarter. Kobe Bryant was cold at the start of the game, missing three of the team's first four shots but soon rediscovered his touch. With the Lakers ahead 24-18 with two minutes left, tiny point guard Earl Boykins entered the game to change the tempo and scored 6 of his team's 12-2 run.

The Lakers had three players in foul trouble early with Kobe Bryant, Caron Butler and Brian Grant all heading to the bench in the second quarter. The lakers gave away too many free throws as the team was in the 'penalty' early with 8:32 left in the second half. By giving away too many free throws and turning over the ball excessively, the Lakers trailed 58-49 at halftime.

The Nuggets came out on fire with Carmelo Anthony, Andre Miller and Kenyon Martin leading the way as the team built up a 10-0 run and eventually a 73-53 lead with 7:58 left in the third quarter. Los Angeles had no idea how to contain Carmelo Anthony and Andre Miller while finding it even harder when supersub Earl Boykins stepped back on. The Nuggets had a 39 point third quarter and a 97-72 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Kobe Bryant, who played awfully on defence, fouled out of the game with 9 minutes left in the game and that was when Kareem Rush's heroics began. Along with Lamar Odom and Chutky Atkins, the trio were able to shoot on a charge towards the Nugget's grand total of points before falling short. The Lakers only sliced the lead into single digits with 1:17 left on an Odom dunk and couldn't find enough time to finish Denver off.

New General Manager Will Sit said at the post game press conference, "I am proud of my team because I didn't believe they could do it. But Rudy (Tomjanovic) kept Lamar (Odom) on the court with Kareem and let them do their stuff." Team Captain Vlade Divac who didn't suit up for the game also said, "I can't wait to play with these guys because it looks like they are a great team!"

During the game, Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony was arguing with Kobe Bryant. When asked about what it was about Anthony said, "Kobe blocked my shot and was laughing at me. I told him; at least I haven't lost the ball five times tonight!"

Los Angeles, Nov 4 - Kobe Bryant is described by many players as being an individual 'on a mission.' Last night, the Utah Jazz saw Kobe Bryant at full strength and determination turning their team's showdown into a trip back down memory lane.

Kobe Bryant played against the Jazz like his idol and the player the opposing team fell to in the late 90's: Michael Jordan. Bryant's 35 points on 14 for 30 shooting, 12 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals showed many of Bryant's critics that the man is the best shooting guard in the NBA. Bryant's coach Rudy Tomjanovic said after the game, "When he (Kobe) is hot then he is real hot! You can't stop him"

That analysis seemed true when Bryant came out of the third quarter break to help fuel his team's 12-0 run at the start of the fourth with 6 points, 3 steals and 3 assists. "I'm feeling really good for this season. We're going to win it all," Bryant said.

Kobe was supported by his teammates too, with Lamar Odom quietly filling up the stat sheet with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block. Brian Grant took most of Bryant's opportunities to score 17 points and Chris Mihm, fitting into his new role grabbed 13 rebounds.

The Jazz had five scorers in double figures with Carlos Arroyo (19), Gordon Giricek (18), Andrei Kirilenko (17). Mehmet Okur (16) and Carlos Boozer (15). After trailing 33-14 at the end of the first, the Jazz never got any closer to winning the game.

The Lakers employed a superior free throw game with 30 out of 37 free throws made compared to Utah's shocking 17 for 26 as the Lakers bounced back from a 2 point defeat against Denver the night before.

The highlight of the game was in the fourth quarter when Lamar odom stole the ball at halfway and fed Bryant with a pass. Bryant then drove into the paint against a triple team and dunked the ball by launching himself between the three defenders.

Andrei Kirilenko who had 17 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals said after the game, "I used to watch the Bulls-Jazz games from the playoffs a long time ago. And I have to admit that Kobe Bryant had shades of MJ to him tonight!"

DUNCAN UNSTOPPABLE IN THE PAINT

Los Angeles, Nov 6 - Kobe Bryant was criticised after turning over the basketball 11 times and fouling out at an inportant time of the match. Star Guard Kobe Bryant fouled out with 1:22 remaining and the game on the line leaving Lamar Odom and the rest of the team to fend for themselves.

Bryant was heavily criticised for trying to drive to the basket by himself too often and attempting to 'break Tony Parker's ankles' with his dribble. "If you can't do it, don't do it!" Vlade Divac told Bryant at halftime but Kobe refused to take on board the advice. Lamar Odom and Vlade Divac played perfect team basketball by using wise shot selection and passing the ball when another player was open. Odom had 15 points on 7 for 11 shooting while Divac had 8 points and 11 rebounds against Tim Duncan and team analysts advised them as examples for Bryant to follow.

Tim Duncan's 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocks paced the Spurs with Tony Parker (22 points, 8 assists, 5 steals) and Brent Barry (19 points) in support.

The Lakers started slow with Tim Duncan showing Vlade Divac who was MVP of the NBA two years ago by scoring uncontested baskets and slowing down the 38 year old with A class defence. At the start of the second quarter the Spurs started with a 16-4 run and after four minutes with Divac failing to hinder Tim Duncan's efforts, the Spurs unleashed another 10-0 run. The margin widening to 13 by halftime.

After the half time break, the lakers decided to double team Duncan and it worked to an extent. The lakers forged a small comeback until Braynt committed his fifth foul with four minutes left in the third period. Bryant came alive just before returning to the bench, scoring 8 points and stripping the ball three times..

However, the Laker's hopes were dampened after closing Lamar Odom had a breakaway dunk to tie the game with 5:43 remaining and then allowing Brent Barry to sink three straight long range bombs, which signalled Bryant's return to the game. Bryant's presence could be felt all over the floor as he and lamar Odom got the Lakers back to within 4 points but that was the closest they would get.

With 2:26 remaining, a controversial goaltend allowed the Spurs to have a 6 point lead. And the score was then taken up to 119-109 via a Tim Duncan dunk over Vlade Divac with 1:44 remaining. Kobe Bryant then trying to drive by himself fouled out of the game with 1:22 left in the game and Tim Duncan finished the home team off with 5 straight points.

Tim Duncan was questioned about his opinion on Kobe, "I don't want to be hated by him like he hates Ray Allen but I think Kobe should learn to play like Lamar (Odom) and Vlade (Divac)."

NOTES: Kobe Bryant shot back at reporters and Tim Duncan exclaiming, "Let's get it done on the court. We'll see you (Spurs) in the playoffs and win!"... The Lakers shot 54% from the field but the Spurs converted more shots... Lamar Odom is quietly shooting at a ridiculous shooting percentage because of being open from Bryant's antics on the floor... Bryant has had back-to-back games of stats of 30, 6, 6, 6... Tony Parker was seen last week at an english class and when asked about it he said, "I failed three times, I hope I get luck this time!"

Novemeber 7 - Despite a modest 20 points and 15 rebounds from Antoine Walker and 20 points from guard S Williams, the lowly Atlanta Hawks just couldn't stop the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers were leading 59-45 at the half and didn't look back afterwards. Vlade Divac's 24 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals and Kobe Bryant's 26 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals led the Lakers to an easy win.

November 9 - The Hornets just couldn't get it all together in the second and third quarters as they were outscored 65-38. Baron Davis did not have the strength to produce after recovering from the flu but still had 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Jamal Mashburn chipped in 19 points from off the bench. Los Angeles had six players in double figures with Lamar Odom leading the team for the night with 27 points (12-21 FG), 8 rebounds and 5 assists while Kobe Bryant was second fiddle for one evening scroing 23 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

Los Angeles, Nov 12 - The Orlando Magic's Cuttino Mobley scored 31 points as he carried his team throughout the game until rookie Dwight Howard stepped in to finish the Los Angeles Lakers with a minute left.

The Magic's duo of Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley did well to start the game proving unstoppable on offence until Steve Francis sustained a leg injury which sent him out of the game early. Francis had scored 14 points on 5/8 FG shooting in 15 minutes and included in his short performance a block on Kobe Bryant. Hedo Turkoglu scored 17 ponits off the bench as Kelvin Cato provided an inside presence with 15 points (6-8 FG) and 14 rebounds.

Despite a triple double by Bryant and Divac's sensational ballgame, the Lakers were not able to rally against the Magic's shooting prowess and fell very quickly in the crunch time. A week after being critisized for not passsing the ball, Kobe contributed 33 points, 10 rebounds, 14 assists and 5 steals but also commited 8 turnovers. "I felt a played a better game," Bryant said, "I was just cold in the second half." Vlade felt like his old self as he had his best game in two years with 17 points (8-13 FG), 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks.

Steve Francis was on fire in the first quater scoring 12 points. During that same period, Bryant proved his point that he could still play a team game by making three straight assists to teammates in the paint. Unfortuantely for Bryant, his fatigue led him to sit out half of the second quarter when they needed him most to stop Cuttino Mobley, who was unstoppable when sinking mid range jumpshots over Laker defenders.

The start of the second quarter saw Francis and first overall pick; Dwight Howard, form a superstar duo and create a run and ending with two dunks that streched their lead to 13. However, Bryant came off the bench to score 9 straight points. On his first play, Bryant stole the ball of Mobley at midcourt and dunked it at the other end. He then came back down the floor to sink a three in Mobley's face and next he found a wide open Odom for a dunk. On the following fast break, Bryant dunked the ball from the baseline and then with half a minute left he split the defence on the way to the hoop. Bryant's individual run helped Los Angeles erase an embarrasing first half and salvaged a 61-59 scoreline.

The Lakers took their first lead of the game with 10:26 left in the third period after a Vlade dunk which helped the Lakers go one point in front at 66-65. And things didn't look Orlando's way after an ugly collision with Vlade Divac which sent Francis to the team locker room early. The Magic did keep scores close until third quater time which saw the team at 85-87, one basket down.

With the game in the balance, the Magic had three straight baskets in the paint and the team was ahead 99-92 with 7:16 remaining in the game. The lakers attempted a comeback which began with Bryant hitting 6 straight free throws. A Divac dunk then tied the score and the Lakers went to a 'big' lineup of Vlade Divac, Chris Mihm, Brian Grant, Lamar Odom and Kobe Bryant. But the Magic then went on a run as rookie Dwight Howard sank two free throws with 1:58 left, Mobley scoredan open jumper and hedo Turkoglu scored from long range. Kobe Bryant turned up the heat in the Laker's last attempt to win by scoring a three in Mobley's face to make it 113-107 with 1:00 left. The Lakers then watched in awe as Dwight Howard sent the game out of reach with two free throws, Howard backpedalled from the charity stripe with both hands in the air.

Dwight Howard whom many observers claimed should have been second in the 2004 Draft finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. "I felt so good after shooting both those shots (Free throws) in. We beat the Los Angles Lakers who are a legendary team!" Howard stated.

NOTES: The players who logged time at the 4 and 5; Vlade, Brian Grant and Chris Mihm combined for 40 points for the Lakers... Grant Hill attempting a second comeback said after the game, "I didn't really recognised Kobe. But I do remember him from his rookie years- shows you how old I am!"... The Lakers had 27 turnovers in another turnover prone game... The Los Angeles Lakers play the Houston Rockets tonight...

One year ago, Tracy Mcgrady was stuck in Orlando. He watched games go by as his teammates couldn't help him win and watched on as Grant Hill sat on the sidelines watching the rest of the squad. He stood there at training desperately wanting to get out of this mess and trying to help his team get past even the best teams in the league.

One year ago, Kobe Bryant was in Los Angeles with an impending trial over his head. He watched players like Shaquille O'neal, Gary Payton and Karl Malone go hard at training, with four future hall of famers on this team he was sure they could win. He played in scrimmages as if they were actual games but the problem was he wanted to be the man.

How much has changed when these teams go head-to-head. Last year, T-mac was the man and KB8 was second fiddle. Mcgrady played on a team which went 21-61 but had great indivdual success. Bryant was on a team which reached the NBA Finals but he was always second to Shaq. Now, Mcgrady is in Houston backing Yao Ming while Kobe is backed up by Lamar Odom.

Kobe Bryant has played great this season with averages of 26 ppg, 7 rpg, 6apg and 3.5 spg. However, he has had trouble with his ballhandling commiting a lot of turnovers in each game. Lamar Odom is having a quiet contribution to the Lakers team with 18.7 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 3.1 apg on 54% shooting from the field while Vlade Divac is having his best season in years with averages of 13.7 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 5.7 apg, 2.33 bpg on 54%.

Tracy Mcgrady is averaging 22.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 6.8 apg and 2.17 spg as second fiddle to 7'7" giant Yao Ming who has had a great start to the new season with averages of 17.8 ppg, 12.2 rpg and 2.17 bpg- good for the best center in the League.

The Lakers who lost last night to the Orlando Magic will be hoping to rebound from their loss and contain Yao Ming in the paint and let Kobe and Tracy have their battle on the court. The Magic, at 2-4 will hope to keep winning after winning their last 2 games.

Yeah- true. Scoring is high but keep in mind that I jumped right into the game straight out of the box... and have to adjust to it slowly. But I promise realistic scores soon enough!

Indiana's Stephen Jackson has suffered a sprained thumb which takes him out for 8 weeks. This is a blow for the Pacers as they now don't have a suitable backup for the older Reggie Miller. Jackson was averaging 10 ppg off the bench.

He has been diagnosed with a heavily bruised thigh. However, this i good news for Orlando as they can test former College player of the year, Jameer Nelson.

Sacramento has lost two players. Defensive specialist Doug Christie (3 weeks) and prodigy kid Kevin Martin (7 Days) are out with a sprained finger and broken nose respectively. The Kings shouldn't have a problem filling in these two voids because of their depth.

The Dallas Mavericks have starting point guard, Jason Terry out for a week with a sprained toe. Will rookie Devin Harris be able to start in Terry's place?

nah cause Francis can do as much damage as my dog could :lol:

...oh well Hill is so weak that anythin could hurt him...even earl boykins landin on him.....

These are the top 4 guys on my team in terms of Raw Bird Scores.

Lamar Odom has been very consistent with an average of 23.2. He had a great night on opening night with 31.00 and has not gone under 19.00 for the whole season except for once.

Kobe Bryant has had nights where he's played excellent and other nights where he has just 'sucked.' In the game against Orlando, Bryant was able to record 36.00 raw bird points. However on opening night he only had 1.00. But expect Bryant's 22.5 average to rise, come All-star weekend!

Vlade Divac has been a pleasant surprise in the last two games with scores of 32.00 and 24.00. His average of 16.0 isn't all that stunning but the NBA is watching Divac go back in time and becoming 28 instead of 38 and is doing everything for his team.

Brian Grant has stayed consistent with scores of 13.00, 12.00, 15.00 and on opening night had a score of 22.00. His average of 12.00 is excellent for this Lakers team which relies on Grant's rebounding skills and defence.
