2020 Offseason

Tue Nov 17, 2020 5:25 pm

The off-season frenzy has begun.

Milwaukee are going all-in to convince Giannis to stay (or perhaps because he has already committed to staying). Sam Presti is hoarding more first round picks. Where will Harden end up?

Lakers: Dennis Schroder
Thunder: Danny Green, Pick 28

Suns: Chris Paul, Abdel Nader
Thunder: Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre, Jalen Lecque, Ty Jerome, 2022 1st round pick

Bucks: Jrue Holiday
Pelicans: Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, Pick 24, Two future 1st round picks, Two future pick swaps

Rockets: Trevor Ariza, Pick 16, 2021 1st round pick
Blazers: Robert Covington

Bucks: Bogdan Bogdanovic (S&T), Justin James
Kings: Donte DiVincenzo, Ersan Ilyasova, DJ Wilson

It sounds like Harden is pushing for Brooklyn, but the Rockets have no interest in a deal that doesn't involve Durant or Kyrie. I have a feeling they'll fold before he does.

I looked at the salaries and I don't see how it happens without a third team to facilitate. Harden makes too much to do the trade without Kyrie or Durant

A combination of SLAPP (spencer, levert, allen, prince, and picks). Some reports said that it has believed to have reached a verbal agreement. Personally the nets are in the best position here. Currently their roster can be a title contender. Hearing politics might be an issue for thier mess since rockets owner is a trump supporter. And that morey tweet. Thats why others think hou wont trade with the sixers because morey is their new GM and rockets owner dont want to hand them harden.

Well see. Lets go NETS!

That seems highly unlikely, as it doesn't come close to working under the salary cap. As Q said, they'd need a third team to make it work. Maybe there is one waiting in the wings, but there's no way they can trade for Harden without a third team, unless they give up Irving or Durant. Both teams can agree to it all they like, but the trade wouldn't be allowed under the rules of the salary cap, so it'd be a moot point.

There are no leaks from nets FO, and thats the way sean marks handles things. There might be a 3rd team if this goes through. Really these feels like dwightmare 2.0. But i trust sean marks to make the best decisions.

If it's going to happen, there needs to be a third team (or a player with a much bigger contract) involved. There's no way two ways about that; it literally won't work under the cap otherwise.

Im just happy that our GM is sean marks. Whatever happens I know it is for the best of the team. Stau cool, calm, and collected sir marks!

I know smaller market teams have to overpay to attract free agents, but Charlotte giving Gordon Hayward 4yr/$120m seems absurd.

What's really interesting there is that Rozier apparently went to Charlotte in part because he wasn't happy that he was losing touches to Hayward. Now, presumably, it's going to happen again.

Hey Andrew, Jordan is getting roasted on twitter, lol.

So who's worse, Jordan or Isiah Thomas? :D

I'd still say Thomas. He gave up all those picks - though the Bulls did waste at least a couple of them - and the Jerome James deal is still worse than overpaying for Hayward.

Just wanna drop by and say that you guys are so lucky I'm not as active as I was in this sub before now that the Lakers are finally competing and just won a title

Westbrook traded to the Wizards for John Wall and a 2023 first round pick.

Sources: Protection on the first-round pick that the Wizards traded to Houston in Russell Westbrook/John Wall trade: 2023, Lottery; 2024, Top 12; 2025, Top 10; 2026, Top 8; then becomes two second-rounders.

Kind of mind-blowing that Wall hasn't played since December 2018.

Good move by the Wizards.

Russ and Wall are close to the same age, and Russ also doesnt have the same injury history. Wall is a major question mark coming into next season (look what just happened to Klay Thompson before the season even started)

With Russ you get a healthy, former MVP who can now go back to a similar role that he had with the Thunder. He wanted to be the man again, this is his last chance in his career probably... Beal plays off ball more than Harden, and Westbrook will help the Wizards bigs.

Wall doesn't fit with Houston either, IMO.

Hoping for Russ to have a strong season with his new team.

Agreed. I like the deal a lot more for the Wizards than the Rockets.

If I'm a contending team, I'd be wary about making a big trade for Harden;

I realise it's hardly an original sentiment, but I feel like Harden's legacy will be that of an extremely talented player that never becomes a winner, barring a major change in attitude.

I don't like Harden... like at all: don't like the way he plays or his attitude. Some people seem to be disliking him for the strip club/non-masking BS that I don't even pay attention to, but he has really become an unlikeable douche to me these last couple of years.

Shit, I totally forgot the Rockets have Boogie now... he should stick around. I like the new big 3.

Is it a hot take that I see similarities between him and Allen Iverson?

Re: 2020 Offseason

Tue Dec 15, 2020 2:29 pm

I think there are some parallels there. I'd give Iverson the nod because he did actually carry that 76ers team to the Finals and took a win over the Lakers to steal a perfect Playoff run from them, and he had a decent season with the Nuggets playing alongside Melo.

Re: 2020 Offseason

Interesting turnover for the Hawks... nice paper squad with Young, Bogdanovic, Gallo, Collins and Capela... no reason they shouldn't be a 4/5 seed in the East. Not sure if Capela is still a "liability" in today's league but you could always go small and play Rondo instead.

Edit: I'm actually probably overestimating them... 7/8 is more realistic but you never know; look at the Thunder last year. Gallinari is the magic touch for these overachieving teams, I'm telling y'all. First LAC, then OKC and now ATL. I also loved those Denver teams he was on... just an amazing collection of role players: Al Harrington, JaVale McGee, Andre Miller, etc... very fun stuff. They probably overachieved as well.
