What programs or ways do you use to open face DDS textures? Because when I open it with Photoshop or paint.net I get this:

When importing into Photoshop, tick the "Import Transparency as Alpha Channel" checkbox.

(I'm not sure if that's exactly what it says, I don't have it in front of me right now)

Install the intel dds plugin for Photoshop.

duplicate the layer until you got a "solid" texture.

you're welcome.
keep in mind that hair and beard have to stay a little bit transparent, otherwise you gonna have a strange result.

I would not recommend doing that!

Why? Well, the transparency is actually telling the game's rendering engine which areas of the texture should be less shiny / less affected by light (it's called an ambient occlusion map). So if you reduce the transparency, you reduce the "shadows" that were supposed to be under the beard and hair, in the nostrils, etc. And you might end up with the inside of the nostrils being shiny, for example.

Luckily, there's a better way, and it's even easier — in the top bar, go to:
1) Layer > Layer Mask > From Transparency
2) Layer > Layer Mask > Disable

That way you can work with the texture as if there is no transparency, but you can re-apply the transparency before exporting your final texture. (Y)

There is no this option in Layer Mask, in my Photoshop
