Player flashbacks

Postby [Q] on Sat Nov 09, 2019 4:05 pm

A couple times this season, as I see guys in new jerseys, I flash back and for a second think I'm watching an older player who used to wear that number. has this happened to you guys?

While watching Porzingis, I immediately thought of Tyson Chandler who wore that jersey for a long time.
Middleton makes me think of Michael Redd.
Watched the Lakers and Heat tonight and the white boy #55 made me think of Jason Williams

Steph who?

I get what you mean. Seeing players on the Bulls wearing #2 and #3 reminds me of Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler.

Although not by jersey number, Ryan Arcidiacono reminded me of Kirk Hinrich when he wore similar body gears and haircut last season

I can kind of see that. On a related noted, Hutchison wearing #15 reminded me of John Salmons.

Saw a picture of Kemba on Sports center and thought Antoine Walker. Just realized while typing this they got the same name lol

That reminds me of the guy who used to post here years ago who absolutely hated me, and claimed i had a bias against Antoine Walker and the Celtics because in a topic about Walker being ejected and getting into an altercation, I absentmindedly referred to him as Wallace. Said poster declared it to be a Freudian slip that proved I was comparing him to Rasheed Wallace and his outbursts, and went on a small rant. He was always a problem, even going back to the original Forum.

This flashback occured in 2018 but probably the most relevant one I believe; Trey Burke reminded me Allen Iverson. The 40+ point game against Charlotte Hornets was exactly an AI game. The cornrows, the tattoos, the sleeves... dude really looked like The Answer.

Wonder why Knicks traded Trey. They can't even hold on a superstar (!)

I know what you're saying: I'm stuck in the late-2000s (when I first got into the league). It just isn't the same as when we first get into it; I lived and breathed it back then.

Had a flashback of Mario Ellie when I saw PJ Tucker wearing that throwback Rockets jersey on that last game against the Clippers. Him being bald and having that beard doesn't help

I just had an old-head moment similar to this today when I was playing an online game with the Heat and didn't know who half the players were, and then it's worse when the subs come in and everyone switches positions which makes icon passing a nightmare... needless to say I did squeak out the win by 2.

Speaking of flashback players, this man changed the game as we know it.

Rival centers and power forwards were so scared to go in the paint against this man so they started shooting 3's... True story kids!
