Finley for Abdur-Rahim a Possibility

One trade not being widely discussed, but Mike Kahn suggests is a distinct possibility is a Michael Finley trade. They have similar salaries, though Finley has a few more years remaining. With Jerry Stackhouse now with the Mavericks, they have two very good players who play the same position.

Bringing Abdur-Rahim would allow him to play power forward, his preferred position and would make Dirk Nowitzki a consistent small forward, and further balancing the Maverick roster.

Probably won't happen, although if it did. Would be a very good trade for the Blazers.

i doubt nelly would let it happen, he's in love with michael finley (and rightfully so).. i agree with you it would definately be a good trade for the blazers.. they'd be getting a pretty good defender, scorer and a leader to guide this team. i would hate to see finley go, i'd rather have them give away stackhouse and bradley .. in a way stackhouse is just like finley. (w/ a horrendous fg%, minus the defense, more injuries :P )

i think this would be a good deal. Mavs could have a lineup of

Dampier
Rahim
Nowitzki
Stack
Terry

it would also aleviate the Stack-Finley-Daniels clog

They'd be smart to trade away Finley's horrible contract that pays him what $100M when he's 40? Just kidding, but it's definately a bad contract.

Finley is a good player but i like their chances better with Rahim-Nowiztki-Dampier up front instead of Finley-Now-Damp

The Mavs have had Finley for so long and he plays so well I don't think they should trade him. Finley is old but he is not slowing down very quickly, he fits in well with the Mavs and they should have NEVER traded Jamison for Stackhouse. Stackhouse is on the decline and always gets injured. Jamison was one of their best players, and Jamison-Nowitzki-Dampier looks better than all of those, and put Finley to SG and Daniels his backup. I don't know why they decided to trade Jamison, I know they needed a new point guard but I really think they could have signed somebody better than Devin Harris, although I really like this guy, I think Jamison had more value than Stackhouse, and Laettner was released. So Harris better develop quickly because Stackhouse and Terry are two guys I really don't like to see playing for the Mavs.

Too bad Jamison isn't a SF and the Mavs are actually going to play defense this season.

If I'm not mistaken he played SF for the Warriors, SF and PF for the Mavericks and now he will play SF for the Wizards. So he is more of a SF than a PF in my mind.

And Stackhouse isn't going to help the Mavs defensivley. If any of there offseason pick ups will play defense it will be Dampier and Terry is a pretty good defender too. None of the players the Mavs got from the Wizards play defense, although I don't know how Harris will play defense.

He failed miserably at PF for the Warriors, they switched him back to PF. He played a little bit of SF off the bench, mostly because of Dallas' versatile frontline. And now in Washington, why would they want to play him at SF when they have Hughes and Hayes starting at the swing spots?
