Forced Outcome

Postby fjccommish on Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:06 am

If a team is supposed to win, does the game make sure they win?

I was playing against the Rockets in MyLeague.

I play locked to one player...use the center for the Bulls, 11 minute quarters.

At 4 remaining in the 3rd Q, Bulls up 6. I sit. Houston goes on a 12-2 run to take a 4 point lead heading into the 4th Q.

I'm back in the game, back down and kick out for a 3, block a shot, we score on the other end, Bulls up 1.

Houston scores on a drive to the basket. I'm cheating toward the paint to stop drives. all four of my teammates bunch up at the three point line, leaving four rockets open into the paint I still managed to block the shot, but a Rocket picks it up. He misses the layup, I jump for the rebound, but the ball bounces off my hands into the hands of a Rocket. He shoots, I block it, pick it up. The ball is stripped by Harden who scores. Rockets up 1.

Now it's our possession. PG runs into the lane, loses the ball, Rockets recover, layup. Rockets up 3.

Guard shoots, misses, I rebound, Ball instantly stripped from me. Down the court, I get stuck to Harden who has the ball. I'm trying to pull away but can't. Pass to Capella under the basket for a layup. Rockets up 5.

I'm wide open under the basket, but the PG doesn't pass. I go to the low post with the defender behind me, but the PG doesn't pass. I try to get away from the paint, the defender gets between me and the PG as I head toward the 3PT line, and then the PG throws the ball to me. Picked off, Rockets run down, I try to stay with my man Capella but suddenly my player jumps. Capella gets to the basket, pass, I manage to block the shot, but it's into Harden's hands. He runs back for another 3. Rockets up 8.

PG runs into the paint, loses the ball, Rockets fast break, Harden dunk. Rockets up 10.

Bulls PG tries to alley oop, picked off by Harden. Rockets score on an alley oop to Capella. He makes it despite me being between him and the basket. Capella leaps up, taps the ball in for a score from about 7 feet away, with me jumping while between him and the basket. Rockets up 12.

PG loses the ball again. Rockets score on the break, up 14.

At some point, it seems like the other team is going to win no matter what. I can get a rebound, but it bounces off me into someone else's hands. Then I block a shot right to an opposing player. There was even a jump ball I got to, tapped to my player who didn't grab it. The ball rolled past him. I got to the ball first, but just tapped it further rather than picking it up. Then a Rocket grabbed it.

It seems the game takes the game out of my hands. It doesn't matter what I do, somehow the other team is going to get the ball to score.

Numerous times after that I went up for a rebound only to have the ball bounce off my hands into some Rocket's hands.

Up by ten starting the 4th Q against Milwaukee: 13-1, just knocked off GS for their only loss, yet Intel shows Milw. as rebuilding.

First Milw. possession I block their shot. Milw. player gets the ball. Block the next shot, one of my players grabs the ball. Ball instantly knocked out of his hands, so I grab it, try to pass it, Milw. player slams me from behind, ball loose, Milw. player grabs the ball. He shoots, I defend it, grab the rebound. Ball instantly knocked out of my hands. Milw. player grabs it. I'm between him and the basket in the high post. The screen flashes, suddenly I'm behind the basket out of bounds. Milw. player goes in for a dunk.

Bulls up 8.

Bulls possession, I get to the basket unobstructed, go for the dunk, miss the dunk. Ball bounces high off the rim. Milw. grabs it. Take a shot, I block it, grab the ball, throw to a Bulls player ahead of the pack, he goes in for the dunk - misses the unopposed dunk, ball flies high into the air, Milw. grabs it.

Milw runs down, takes a quick three, hits. Bulls up 5.

On the other end I'm double teamed, pass to a cutter, he lays it up ...whistle...Bulls called for illegal screen.

Milw shoots, misses, I have position in front for the rebound, but as I jump I slide around the opposing player until I'm behind him. Milw. gets the rebound, lays it up, I do nothing, hit no control, but my player moves, fouls the Milw. shooter. Milw. hits the FT. Bulls up 2.

I have position at the top of the key, above the defender (he's between me and the basket. PG keeps dribbling. I move to run through lane to get to my spot as shown by play art. The second I'm behind the Milw. defender, now he's between me and the ball, PG tries to pass to me - picked off.

Milw. passes to SG, my defender runs away from him, Milw. SG hits a 3. Milw. up 1.

PG dribbles into traffic - turnover.

Milw. PG runs into paint. I jump to block. PG does a tear drop for the score. After the shot goes in one of my players shoves PG from behind. Foul. PG hits FT. Milw up 4.

PG tries alley oop, picked off by tiny PG.

Milw. tries alley oop. I jump (7'7" created center). Ball deflects off my hands (through my hands), directly into arms of alley oop recipient who tips it in for the score. Milw. up 6.

Bulls call time out.

Over the next 4 minutes I manage to tie the game. I have to go, so I quit and save with the game tied.

When I return home, I reload the game. It's at the point when Milw. was up 6 - the 4 minutes of my work to tie the game has been lost. It's turnover after turnover, missed shot after missed shot. Milw. wins by 12.
