Listened to some Pantera today. I've always liked the sound, but this band may be one of the most unliked/popular bands of all time. I've seen some pretty vile things said about them, most involving calling them white trash. Personally, I like many Pantera songs, I've listed three here that are currently on my playlist.

Pantera have some great songs (my favourites being Mouth For War, 5 Minutes Alone, and Fucking Hostile), but I think the problem is that Phil Anselmo himself is a pretty polarising figure. I have to admit, I didn't listen to them a whole lot after his
white power controversy.

This turned a lot of people off, but I rememeber his comments the following days about it. For some reason, I took his apology a little better than I've taken most (in similar circumstances).
But like you said, some great songs. How many controversial characters are there that have great music? So many... look at Michael Jackson for example. All of a sudden you hear nothing about his child molestation case from the early 90s, and the other ugly rumors. Now he's just talked about as Michael Jackson, the great artist.

i am listening to the same shit i have been listening to for the last 30 years because thats what us old people do

Obviously a great song, a good thinking song. This is one of those songs that's good to drive at night too.
And Sauru, I still listen to the stuff I listened to in the 90's sometimes, I mix it up though.

I feel like a crotchety old man because I am the same way. The only radio station I can listen to for long periods of time is KDAY because they play 90s and early 2000s hip hop and r&b

I'm with Sauru, we are dinossaurs, man.
We listen the same songs we used too, most because we love the feelings and memories that each one of this songs brings to us.
How about this folks...

For those around my age (Andrew), pretty sure you remember the barrage of popularity we endured by Linkin Park in the early 2000's. I was in high school when it started, and people were selling Linkin Park CD's at my school for $10 a pop (Downloaded music burned onto discs, probably grabbed from LimeWire). I'll admit, I enjoyed Meteora and Hybrid Theory. I didn't enjoy the later music.
Not sure how popular they were in the rest of the world, as I live in the US about an hour outside of Boston. So it could have been different where you other guys are located. But Linkin Park was a big deal where I am from.

That explains why you said you didn't like the song I chose for a certain video I made, haha.

Totally
About music, i'm an extremist but as I get older, there's 10% for the rest now

I didn't listen to much Linkin Park back in the day (in fact, "Crawling" is the only song I'm familiar with), but I'm not a good barometer of what's popular in music. I think they were reasonably popular here at the time.

Linkin Park were pretty huge around the release of their first two albums. I still listen to them fairly regularly and I even like their newer stuff (hell, Battle Symphony from their latest album is pretty damn good IMO). They were always a pop band in my eyes, so it was no real surprise that they went in that direction.
I managed to see them three times: once at a standalone gig and twice at festivals. They were always good if not a little sanitised.
In regards to Papercut, it's still one of my favourite
opening tracks of all time.

Still a bit of a struggle for me to listen to Pantera. Aside from the controversy, I just find there's a lot of metal bands I prefer to listen to more (Opeth, Strapping Young Lad, Napalm Death, just to name a few).
And popular music is definitely littered with controversial figures, which is why I never understood why Kanye West was singled out (at least before his latest ramblings, anyway).

Linkin Park was huge here for years, especially during the TRL days. Even to this day if you play Numb somewhere, everyone in the room will sing along
I enjoyed the earlier stuff with more Mike Shinoda. Wasn't the big fan of the stuff with Chester

Of course I did, thanks to NBA Live 06

I went on a Fort Minor binge last year. Listened to a lot of music I hadn't heard before. Solid.

It annoys me that I'm so hooked with all the LoFi hip hop beats. Listened to it once while studying and now I can't stop.

Wiki says all of them already are, they’ll be tried as an adult in court when they chop your balls off during a performance piece.
