Orlando Magic Title Run?

Postby Chizzle on Thu Sep 16, 2004 7:22 am

With additions of Stevie Franchize,Cuttino Mobley,Hedo Tukolgu, kelvin cato, dwight howard and jameer nelson...its promising

At PG we will have franchize then jameer can be solid backup after having a nice summer league. SG we got cuttino mobley str8 shooter, deshawn stevenson, maybe keith bogans,SF WELCOME BACK Grant Hill 5th time a charm! Hedo can light it up,PF #1pick howard and comin back sharp shooter Pat garrity,C Kelvin cato, Tony battie..good enough for the EAST.

Im liken it definetly will when the east with this squad

i can't see orlando beating detroit

detroit's starting 5 are good defensive players and all of them are committed to it.. the combination of rasheed and big ben would just bother cato and howard tremendously.. hedo won't even have a chance against tayshaun, and im sure rip/chauncey would do a decent job defending mobley and francis

aside from that 4 out of the 5 players on detroit are offensive threats, any of them can put up 20 on the board on a given night

I think the Magic have a chance at competing for the #2 spot in their division, behind Miami, with the Wizards.

The Magic still don't have a great center in Cato who had a terrible season last year and was lucky he didn't get replaced by Maurice Taylor. You don't know if Dwight Howard will have a great season or not, he is still a rookie and a pretty weak guy at that. Turkoglu only plays well when he can get open shots, in San Antonio he got plenty because of the constant double teams on Duncan, in Orlando there is no one that deserves a double team. Mobley is a good defender and a good shooter, a great pick up for Orlando. Francis is a bad decision maker and better suited to SG then PG, and he didn't give the ball much to Yao Ming who is an All-Star, what makes you think Howard will get the touches he wants? They have a pretty good bench with Nelson, Stevenson, Battie and Garrity. But I don't think they are title contenders just yet. I think they will finish behind Detroit and Indiana, both teams have great PF who Howard will have trouble with, and both teams are great defensive teams as opposed to the Magic who have almost no defensive players. So if Orlando gives howard time to develop and get a center, thats when I will consider them to be titile contenders.

There aint no way in hell they gonna win the East when you got Detroit and Miami out there. If they got a real center.I would give them a decent shot

Orlando can't beat Detroit, Indiana, Miami. They are just too weak to 'win' the East. On papaer the team looks decent but this bunch are all new to each other. Besides, you can't win with Guards in a conference that has Big Ben and the Oneals

Orlando should try to get Keon Clark.. maybe he could play the five.

For Orlando:"

C: Clark
PF: Howard
SF: Hill
SG: Cat
PG: Franchise

doesnt look that bad a squad for the East! Even without Clark.. they look good... I want to see Deshawn starting though (Even though i'm not a magic fan- lol)...

No, but how can you be a true fan if you're ready to abandon your team just because of one possibly bad draft choice?

You mean you wouldn't support the Magic, who are now seen as a play-off team and potential Eastern Conference champions?

If I remember correctly you weren't supporting them. You kept saying you're not a Magic fan, you're a Ben Wallace fan.
