Detroit may not be in the playoff picture at the moment (9th), but I consider Andre Drummond a huge snub. For what he does for that team night in and night out, I would have placed him in the all star game instead of Al Horford (This coming from a Celtics fan). Horford has been solid, but he has also disappeared (A la, the recent game against Orlando, I was at the game) in many games. He's a gifted passer for a big, but 13 ppg and 7.8 rpg in my opinion doesn't cut it (nor does the eye test this season).

He has not played up to his earnings. It reminds me of Horace Grants all star appearance in 93-94, but he even averaged 15 and 11. Yes, record plays a factor, but lets not just throw players on the all star team because they are on a top team.

Agreed, Drummond got the Lillard treatment this year.

Side story, but have you guys been following Drummond versus Embiid story? It's hilarious how Embiid outright eats him alive and comes up on top in each bout. Embiid would keep on taking shot at Drummond. Drummond being a nice guy would respond in nice way but he should man up and fight back. In all star selection, Embiid wins yet again it seems.

Who's gonna replace Cousins? Poor dude is done for the season.

Embiid really the Enes Kanter of social media. Dude is always trying to start something with other players. But I'll admit, the KAT burn was hilarious

Embiid has Shot .432% against Drummond combined in the last 2 outings. Including one where he shot 7 for 21. Embiid is absolutley better than Drummond, I think Embiid is the best center in the game. But a lot of what he does is just talking, reminds me of Gilbert Arenas and his NBA blogs. Drummond is averaging about 13 points and 11-13 boards a game in the 3 meetings with Embiid, with his defensive numbers being his normal self.

Drummond should still be on the all star team as the backup, with Embiid as the starter. Embiid has that old school post game that I love.

I like Embiid's game, but I too get a Gilbert Arenas vibe from him. I find that act gets a bit tiresome after a while, but I also get why it's popular.

Paul George is replacing Boogie, it seems.

John Wall is out 6-8 weeks and is therefore a scratch from the game, so Drummond will take his place.

Gordon is still hurt so I'm glad he's not forcing it like last year. Donovan Mitchell seems like a worthy replacement

I'd say so, too. He's got the athleticism, hopefully he brings the creativity.

All-Star Weekend is upon us once more. Any predictions?

Celebrity Game: Team Clippers
Rising Stars Challenge: Team World
Skills Challenge: Lou Williams
Three-Point Contest: Devin Booker
Dunk Contest: Dennis Smith Jr.
All-Star Game: Team Stephen
All-Star Game MVP: Joel Embiid (if Team Stephen wins), or Russell Westbrook (if Team LeBron wins)

If you guys had to choose the 5 guys that would be top performers in the rookie/soph game, who would you choose? One guy would get 1.5 points. Here is my prediction:

Donovan Mitchell (1.5)
Dennis Smith Jr
Jayson Tatum
Kyle Kuzma
Buddy Hield (throw in)

Doing this lineup on daily fantasy. The top 4 are the ones I think will take the game the most seriously.

I'm doing this on FanDuel (similar to draft kings). I maxed out the salary with these choices.

I'm obviously pretty biased, but I'd say Ben Simmons. I think he also has a point to prove, feeling he was snubbed from the All-Star Game. Personally I think he'd have probably made it if he kept up his early season form, but he slumped a bit and that hurt his chances. In any event, I'm expecting (hoping?) that he'll have a big game.

I'll say...

Ben Simmons
Joel Embiid
Donovan Mitchell
Jayson Tatum
Brandon Ingram

I cant do Simmons and Embiid, they cost a bit much (The fake salary). I could sub out Mitchell for Simmons, but i feel like Simmons won't take the game as seriously. Hopefully I'm right, otherwise my lineup will be dead in the water.

I certainly think Tatum will come to play. Surprised you don't have Smith Jr on there.

He was on the shortlist, definitely a viable option.

Re: 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend

Sat Feb 17, 2018 11:56 am

Makes sense, probably the least two "deserving" all stars.

I dunno who will win, but i am rooting for Rachel Damita or Justin Beiber to win MVP

Smith is a popular pick for dunk contest. I like Donovan but I haven't seen much from him as far as tricks go.

Can't remember when was the last time I had fun watching the all-star weekend. High scores are pretty but not when the game is an actual glorified practice The skills contest is sort of nice though even though they mixed pgs with big men. I also like the Dunk contest but I wish they would have kept it simple with nothing but the legends votes as it used to be.

Re: 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend

At least they've gone back to the traditional format for the dunk contest, but the choice of judges - outside Dr J, of course - is weird this year.

lol what?
Horford, possibly, but Aldridge least deserving?
Putting up 22-8-1 on 50-33-83 % shooting and leading the team to the 3rd best record in the competitive Western Conference despite no Kawhi and surrounded by the ghost of Pau Gasol, corpse of Danny Green, and young players who weren't even a big part of the rotation a season ago?
