The positive for us PC users: Looks like the files will be compatible from 2K17

The Negative: Body types look the same, and I don't like the lighting at all. I am hoping we didn't backtrack even further with the lighting....

I can see that 2K14 will still be the best one in series. :D

I just don't get why the lighting has taken such a step back, I'm wondering if it has to do with optimization issues.

Regarding the lighting I think it's the same thing they did with 2K on old gen. The lighting got worse and worse from around 2k10/2k11 forward so that when next-gen came out people were blown away.

I mean, that is my train of thought also. But, I want to say optimization issues because I don't want to believe that they would intentionally do that.

Lighting looks really dark.... I hope they're not going back to the over exaggerated 2K14 style. I fucking hate this so much... I know Dee will agree with me on that.

Jerseys look a lot better though. It looks like they did actually sit back and put a bit more effort into the jerseys this year. You can actually see some of the stitching on the Raptors jersey, which they have never done before. Body types look the same but the actual jersey models look a lot better. Hopefully they've removed that stupid hunchback that players have in 2K17.

Player face wise, Paul George looks really off for some reason. His head doesn't look like it fits his body, I don't know maybe that's just me. DeRozan looks fucking incredible while Isaiah has the same face that he's had since like 2K14.

So far I like what I see apart from the lighting, as Dee pointed out. I really hope they're not going backwards with this. The only stadiums that should have that dark lighting is MSG, Staples center when the Lakers play and the Barclays center. Let's wait and see though....

Also @iamsamke maybe that's intentional? We haven't seen the new Celtics jerseys yet so it could be.

Thomas doesn't look like an athlete to me in that screenshot. However, gameplay trumps all in my opinion. If the defense is fixed, floaty passes are fixed, forced animations etc, I can live with graphics equivalent to NBA 2K15 through 17. Hopefully the skinny body types are gone.

For me personaly, cyberface of PG13 is awful. The other two can go, but George is just not good enough. And, in generous, I am little dissapointed with grapichs. I was hoping for more. :(

This is the trend with the 2k series, going backwards graphics wise.

I think 2K18 looks better than 2K17 does

These shots look interesting

Not the big leap I was expecting graphic-wise. Although, just like it happened with 2K17, I hope the big-improvements made on the modes is enough to make the game worth buying. I remember last year how MyLeague was improved so much it made the game just worth by the mode itself.

Stands to reason that the same day I post an article discussing the lack of a preview season, we get some preview screenshots.

I'd agree that it's looking very similar to vanilla NBA 2K17. I wasn't expecting a huge difference, so I'm therefore not greatly disappointed. My biggest gripes and concerns are gameplay and feature/concept related, so I can look past an issue with the aesthetics here and there.

The lighting on those screenshots looks very NBA 2K15, in fact I could easily mistaken them for 2K15 screenshots if it wasn't identified as 2K18. You can just tell by the lighting.

I mean, I'm not expecting much from 2K this time around, I didn't even buy 2K17, and to me, it's competing with NHL 18 at this point. If I don't see any improvements in overall balance, I'm just gonna skip this year again and wait for Free Play Days on the Xbox lol. I've played Madden, and NBA Live is definitely getting burn, so it's up to 2K to fix these servers and make their game more user friendly. The in-game UI to me keeps getting worse and worse, MAINLY because they feel they over stylized, and I'm just trying to make quick in game adjustments.

Also, the coach from MyCareer needs to not be present in the play now mode. I don't care for his speeches during time outs. Things like this bother me for a game that sells itself on authenticity.

THIS ^^^^ I HATE hearing the same lines over and over and over again... I skip every single timeout because of this nonsense. Why is the annoying MyCareer "assistant coach" (That acts as the full time head coach) on every single team in a quick play mode?
