That time the Hawks & Heat replayed the final minute of a game in 2008

Anyone remember this? It wasn't that long ago. I found out about it in this video, and I just thought it was so bizarre. Was it played in front of a crowd? Was there a disclaimer on the ticked that read "Show up to the arena a half hour early to watch a minute-long game!"?

It was replayed before their next matchup, from memory. Nothing really changed.

The Heat had a terrible season due to excessive injuries and departures of veterans. By the time that the remaining 1 minute of game played, the Heat had already lost their playoff contention, trying to tank for the 1st draft pick as 2008 draft class was expected to be loaded.

The Hawks traded random guys for an almost All-Star Mike Bibby. With Bibby the Hawks had a shot at playoffs for the first time since 1999, so every win mattered.

So the 1 minute did not matter for both teams.

Thats odd, i remember back in 2005/2006 season whereby the raptors were facing the Hawks and during the last minute of the game they gave the Hawks some additional points for them to ice the game. It seems that it happens often with the hawks

Yes there was that one, there was also another one that happened a year or two before. Unfortunately i cannot find anything about it right now haha. The only reason i remember was because they covered it on local news in toronto.

It seemed to be a trend for the Hawks for a while there.

What's funny is that it should have set precedence for other moments where the NBA admitted that something went wrong but then we'd be replaying games all season long

Oh, I just thought it would be funny like you're walking into the arena and you see them playing a 1 minute game and it's like "da fuq?"

It was announced ahead of time and it was a big story - games obviously don't get replayed that often - so presumably not too many people were surprised.
