I turn my tv on to see Michelle Timms sitting next to that dickhead Tony Squires, "and we go to our commentators Andrew Gaze and Basil Zemplas" WHY? WHY THE FUCK DID THESE MORONS GET THE JOB?? They're the worst commentators I've ever seen while Michelle Timms has been fantastic, this is fucked

Basil's commentating in the 4th quarter of the Brazil/Russia bronze medal game and just mentioned there's a 7ft tall woman out there playing... I've seen Russia play 3 times on TV and with the more respectable commentary of Michelle Timms and that other bloke, they said she was 6'8. Could it really hurt them to get the information right?

The refereeing in this match has been absolutely abysmal. Almost as bad as Batkovic's defense.

just when i thought the reffing wouldn't get any worse in this tournament.

the worst call in the whole tournament though was Italy vs Lithuania, where the Italian big man was standing near the hoop, gets clearly fouled, and they call the foul on him

anyways, that Aus PG sucks ass, she got schooled big time by Johnson
Jackson failed to show up which is strange for a 'superstar' considering the magnitude of the game

the commentary was the most biased ive ever heard, and if bazil ever says the word "uncharactaristically" when a player misses a FT i'm gonna throw a birck at my TV

The commentary was well up to the usual standard. Plenty of Basil kissing Gaze's arse, Gaze showing frustrating bias and every move Australia made was a good one. I've said it before and I'll say it again: they could stand at midcourt and fling the ball up into the audience, and it would be a "good move, smart play".

My personal favourite was after some particularly stomach-lurching butt-kissing when Basil asked Gaze what Australia need to do to win the game. Gaze's speech basically said "Australia needs to outscore the USA before the game ends" only in a great many more words. I'm starting to see why the Boomers have come up short in the clutch in years gone by.

Plenty of questionable calls, but the Opals didn't play their best, but the final result really doesn't say enough about their outstanding performance during the tournament and indeed the way they managed to stay close for most of the game. However, when the going got tough they started launching too many threes, not unlike their Boomer counterparts.

Still, I think they should be proud of their performance. Along with the USA, they were way above the rest of the tournament. 7-1 and the silver medals are accomplishments that will be vastly underrated. Congratulations to the USA, but congratulations to the Opals for their performance throughout the tournament. Once again, they've put the Boomers to shame.

At least the refereeing was consistent - consistently bad that is. I can't believe it. SO many bad calls... ball comes off USA, USA ball! Penny Taylor goes on a little run and scores on a driving layup, un-touched as she completes the play, they call a foul.

Tina Thompson has the biggest lips I've ever seen, and it doesn't help with that shade of lipstick she wears. I still have some footage on tape from the WNBA's first season, with Tina Thompson on it playing for Houston. Same big ass lips, same lipstick. Damn she really killed the aussies though.
