NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has signed center Mirza Begić (Meer-ZAH Beg-ICH). Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Begić, 7-1, 265, most recently played for Laboral Kutxa Baskonia of the Spanish ACB League. Undrafted in 2007, Begić has played professionally since 2003 in Slovenia, Italy, Lithuania, Greece and Spain. A native of Yugoslavia, Begić is a two-time Slovenian League All-Star (2007, 2009), a Lithuanian League All-Star (2010), and led the Euroleague in blocked shots in 2011 with 2.3 blocks per game.
New Orleans’ roster now stands at 20.

I don't know anything about him but with the roster standing at 20 it's very unlikely he will make the team if he isn't that great as you say.

Definitely. He will be back in Europe and get signed by some shitty team, I guess.

Makes you wonder how he got the opportunity if he's such a lacklustre player. Then again, this is the time of the year when pretty much anyone who can run up and down a basketball court without falling over, and has some level of experience in the college or professional ranks, at least gets a shot at making an NBA roster.

Pretty sure that Alexis Ajinça is injured so they probably need a camp body.

Waived lol

Lmfao
Now they signed Bo McCaleb, he also played in Europe, in fact he helped one Serbian team to qualify for Euroleague Final 4, back in 2010. But since then, he's not same player, he will be waived as well soon.
Pelicans also signed Nate Robinson, which is ok, they have Jrue, who is always injured, and Norris Cole, who is backup PG. I think he will be great fit in there.

Nate at least would seem to stand a chance at making the roster. He's a serviceable journeyman at this point.

Nate has a place in the nba, he has grown up a lot since his days in NY but he still has ways to go imo but if bouncing around the league doesn't humble a guy I don't know what will.

According to Synergy Sports...
New Pelicans PG Bo McCalebb has consistently ranked prominently in offensive and defensive pick&roll efficiency during his career in Europe
That's kinda intriguing.

Nate Robinson fired by Pelicans

Well, that was a short tenure.

Pun intended?
Nate just isn't too great, he's a streetball player

Happy coincidence.

Eight teams so far. I kind of want to see someone break the record of 12 shared by Jim Jackson, Joe Smith, and Chucky Brown.

Difference is the names you mentioned there were respectable people, pros on and off the court.
Nate on the other hand acts like a thug and is to much of a showman.

Haven't teams learned by now? Dude's a clown.

True, but he has found his niche here and there, if only for a season. I think players who are willing to put up shots can always find a place in the league, especially when they're the kind of player who can occasionally provide a 20+ point effort off the bench, as Nate has proven himself capable of doing in the past. I reckon he'll continue to latch on to teams around the league, until he gets a little older and there's a younger player cut from the same cloth taking that role from him.

Darn dog dang it... I drafted Nate Robinson in fantasy league.
