Petition: Fire George Karl!

Postby Corymach7 on Sat Aug 15, 2015 2:25 am

Sacramento fired Mike Malone, then Vlade Divac is president and they replaced Tyrone Corbin with George Karl (the coach who doesn't like franchise players).

What do you all say, basketball fans? Keep George Karl/Fire him?

He is trying to get rid of DeMarcus Cousins.

This is a petition for the Kings to fire George Karl. George Karl should be replaced by one of these coaches:

John Calipari (Kentucky Head Coach)
Monty Williams (Oklahoma City Associate Coach)
Pablo Laso (Real Madrid BC Head Coach)
Juwan Howard (Miami Assistant Coach)
Scott Brooks (Oklahoma City Former Head Coach)
Mike Bibby (Former Sacramento PG, to make a good coach)
Zeljko Obradovic (Fenerbache Ulker Head Coach)

I know one thing. George Karl is 107% correct to say that both need to work towards committing to one another. George has yet to buy in on Cousins as a franchise player and Cousins has yet to buy in on George's playbook. If Cousins stopped being a spoiled high school kid and actually gave a damn we'd actually be able to see where it leads to. Instead this overgrown high school mental nutjob blows off every attempts to work together.

What a crybaby Cousins is. He had a franchise to himself from the day 1 and had lots of opportunities to make something out of it. Only thing he's achieved so far is challenging Rasheed Wallace's tech foul record. Less people believe in his potential now, more people believe he's got serious attitude problem, nobody wants to play alongside him, he's steadily earning reputation as a coach killer. This might only be the beginning of the bigger mess unless intervened.

In retrospect, there's no better coach for Cousins than George Karl. He might actually be able to put Cousins in his place. Fight fire with fire and make Cousins taste his own medicine.

Unless signatures are being collected and submitted, it isn't a petition; it's a poll. And a poll on a basketball video game forum isn't going to influence the decisions of a professional basketball franchise. An actual petition likely won't, either.

Anyway, as to the discussion the topic raises: it seems that the rift has been smoothed over for now. If it comes down to it though, I believe the Kings should fire him over getting rid of Cousins. For all his issues, Cousins is a legitimately talented big man. That's rarer to come by than a competent coach, and while he has had a respectably successful career on the sidelines, Karl is neither irreplaceable, nor in the top echelon of NBA coaches. Given he's the common denominator in rifts with other players he's coached, I'd let the blade fall on him first...again, IF it comes to that.

Another petition? You think Adam Silver checks this forum regularly? You think the Kings' GM gives a shit?

I'd rather see Karl coach Boogie. There's no one as good as Karl that is available at the moment.

Karl isn't willing to coach Boogie Cousins at this moment. He wants him traded and Boogie Cousins is the Kings Franchise-player. To me, hiring George Karl is like the Warriors hiring a coach who doesn't want Stephen Curry around. The majority of franchise-players always win out. John Calipari is the better coach than George Karl. Remember Calipari and the way he coaches Kentucky? It's like helping a struggling franchise make the playoffs. I'd be surprised if the Kings GM doesn't replace George Karl with John Calipari.

Considering that Calipari is making a lot of money coaching in the college ranks (more than he'd likely be offered in the NBA) and hasn't shown any interest in the NBA as of late, that would be pretty surprising.

I feel this thread is like 2 months out of date, yes Karl "tried" to trade Cousins but Divac put a stop to that and now Karl and Cousins are publicly working together and are said to be on good terms.

Karl wanted to trade Cousins before the draft...
