Cousins should stay in Sacramento. Trade Karl for trying too hard.

As much as he is a head case teams will want him, if the Lakers deals falls through dont be surprised if the knicks 4th pick + filler comes into play as it is being reported in the grapevine that Cousins likes NY.

Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive has considered firing George Karl, who was hired as coach four months ago to help turn around the struggling franchise.

Ranadive's displeasure with Karl stems from the coach's desire to trade All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

I haven't been this embarrassed about the Kings since the Maloofs were here, and at least then it was obvious where the blame should go.

To be honest, he should get fired. Probably trying to ruin the franchise by trading their franchise player

DeMarcus Cousins Really Wants You To Know He’s Made Peace With George Karl

All summer, there have been rumors about an irreparable rift between DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl. It started when reports emerged that Karl was trying to trade the Kings’ star center and was exacerbated by Cousins’ emoji-fueled Twitter response. They both tried to squash the beef at the Las Vegas Summer League when – after sitting on opposite sides of the arena the previous day and scarcely acknowledging one another’s existence – they shared an awkward handshake that only served to make everyone involved feel even ickier than before.

Cousins is a difficult guy to coach. So is Rondo. Once you start let them have their way, you will end up with last year's SAC and DAL.

I think George Karl is closest thing to being the right guy who can give them some tough love, mental guidance, and not go with "I'm a great player so what I do on court is always right" detrimental attitude.

If I was Kings GM, I'd fire George Karl.

Edit: That's like Avery Johnson, as coach of the Nets, trying to get Deron Williams traded to Dallas. That got Avery Johnson fired.

This team is a joke. Hiring Lieberman after Beck Hammony takes the league by storm, signing Seth Curry after Steph takes the league by storm. Hell, The Mavs were the first to hire Lieberman as a coach. This team just loves being late to the party, hoping to look cool just by being there

Deron Williams chose to stick with the Nets, even with Avery Johnson wanting him traded out. The Jazz let Jerry Sloan retire to try to bring Deron Williams back, but it didn't work out for them.

Too many players blame their coaches for their own demise. Deron definitely should go down as one of the infamous coach killers.

In contrast, D'Antoni is the victim of those coach killing players. He probably was bad but not as bad as media depicted him.

I'd call D'Antoni a good coach, not a very good or great one. Coaches who are great or at least very good helm teams to championships, good ones tend to peak with respectable success in the regular season and a few decent Playoff runs.

I have never seen a coach care so little about defence than D'Antoni.

It killed me when he was in NY.

I get the whole small ball thing and that works but I like the way the Warriors did it will small ball that could play D, coach mike would just put out a 3 point lineup with Shawne Williams playing center vs the likes of Dwight

What pisses me off about D'Antoni is he can't veer away from his system or even try to incorporate some different things. A great coach (Pop, Carlisle) knows how to utilize the strengths of the players available to them. D'Antoni's system and style is for a set group of players and that's it.

I think the question is would the Lakers/Knicks have been better if someone else was coaching. I am thinking marginally at best. If then who's capable? Probably a very few. I don't know if Zen Master himself could have done much better.

Coaches are only middle management. They can only be as good as their players that top management gets him and in most cases it's matter of putting the right guys on the floor than drawing board.

They'd probably suck ass anyways but with a different coach you don't know how things might have played out with the players. Maybe Howard doesn't do his drama queen exit and in turn Gasol decides to stay too, LA becomes a more attractive FA destination in the process.

Howard handled his departure from the Lakers fairly well, I thought. At least, compared to some of the stuff he'd done before that.

Agreed, Andrew. I think both Dwight and D'antoni aptly did what they could back then.

Both couldn't handle Kobe and deteriorated relationship. It almost felt their exit was by force and not by choice, at least from non Lakers fan's perspective. Everyone knew Kobe was calling shots, and it was actually Kobe that handpicked D'Antoni in the first place as well. It was going to be D'Antoni or no one else anyway.

But the root cause of the failure in D'Antoni's short stint as a coach was a series of unfortunate injury, and that he failed to build proper relationship with his players, which I believe wasn't something fair to ask for. He never had that shrewdness neither the proper support to earn total control over players. Does anyone believe insidious Riley/Spo combo or lone wolf Tom Thib could have tamed those Lakers cats? Only way out of criticism was to win but it just wasn't possible with that much injury.
